Money doesn't have high velocity in the upper echelons of society compared to in the bottom half. One dollar will pass through many hands if paid to a person in the lower half of our economy, while in the top 10% this same dollar barel

Many schools think $30k a year is a reasonable wage, which is part of why half of all schools in Montana employ uncertified "teachers": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcI2qyP_uj4&t Offering terrible wages res

The breakeven for electric vehicles has already come, but not in the form of a multi-ton car. When I bike around Seattle, there are a plethora of Radpower eBikes with various modifications, either for towing, or hauling kids. Cost, traffic

I'd say the breakeven point for electric vehicles has already come. Electric cars have yet to hit this breakeven point, but waves of people have modeswitched to eBikes and electric scooters to get out of snarled traffic, shorten their

Pedal power ftw! If you enjoy your current bike, don't switch. A good light bike can be quite a bit more enjoyable to ride than an eBike, I think eBikes really just enable super-commuting by bike for those of us with weak calves.

eBikes open up that 10+km space, making my 12km commute each way take only 25 minutes (versus 19 to 45 minutes driving depending on time of day). I also get to bike alongside the canal as part of my commute, whereas before it was a mere gli

OP is likely referring to Google Maps Transit, One Bus Away and similar bus/train tracking apps making public transit predictable and usable for their lifestyle, not the piecework economy of private taxis like Uber & Lyft.

Cisco smells money, they see their network as a service sub-brand Meraki pulling in tons of money from clients that don't want their network to brick. I wish this would trigger a migration to other vendors that don't brick your ha

I've repeately seen links in subreddits that send me to an article, where if I viww the subreddit in the new UI, I see the post actually links me to a post in a different subreddit that eventually links to said article. I reported a po

It is really sad to see Reddit stagnate on spam handling, but the dev resources at Reddit seem to be laser focused on making the new UI & features that ease the transition from Facebook to Reddit. Most of the subreddits with active mods

Hasn't Reddit been issuing shadow bans for the last decade? I think shadow banning people is really shitty. In Reddit's case, they shadowbanned me immediately after I bought Reddit gold, and an unpaid, unaffiliated subreddit moder

Many companies treat the cleaning crew like trash. Unpredictable scheduling, no benefits, minimum wage pay combine to make it so a very small bribe would get an attacker into a building, where they could plant gear in the drop ceiling and m

8chan and similar make no money. The reason they are able to survive is the cost to run a site is so low (with DDoS protection being critical to lowering resource usage). Additionally, being on the clearnet is much more accessible to people

The Allwinner A64 platform has numerous developers working on it compared to the iMX8, which has really fleshed out fully featured hardware support over the last few years. Running most Linux distros should be a breeze on the Pinephone!

CPU nomming is a worse problem IMO, as your fans spin up and battery life shrinks. Other chat clients don't use notable resources, its suprising that Slack hasn't had much pushback over its heavy resource usage thus far.

2GB of RAM use for 6 open tabs in Slack is pretty awful, their desktop client has set the bar to compete with Slack on performance very low. This abusive resource usage has created a dislike of Slack among a subset of its users.
