Perhaps. But another scenario is that the population, or some not insignificant part of it, is opposed to the war and doesn’t buy the party line. We’re certainly seeing more resistance within Russia than expected. At the very least, sanctio

I think you’re still oversimplifying. NATO countries may have been involved in bloody wars, wars which were varying degrees of bad idea, but at least those wars were fought against regimes which were terrible - brutal and repressive towards

Many people in the US were very opposed to the Iraq war (the war in Afghanistan, though stupid, had a more real precedent). It would have been good had the US suffered sanctions for invading Iraq, but sadly the geopolitical reality didn’t s

Yes, the left trusts “science”, broadly. That’s because when we see 99% of scientists in a field claiming something, we don’t pretend we know better than them. We respect science, we understand on some level the work that goes into good sci

But your own post makes clear the problem with your logic. This isn’t about convincing people. It’s about the fact that people’s political views are guided by gut, instinct and the bubbles they’re in instead of by critical thinking. These p

If you agree with this argument, please explain why we shouldn’t extend it to non-remote work. Shouldn’t the same argument apply whether employees go into an office or work from a coffeeshop?

I’d rather the sites themselves decide than the US government decide. You can always go to a different site. But once we have the government intervening and saying “this is what is acceptable speech online, this is what isn’t”, that’s a who

I agree with all this. Part of the problem, however, is the American college system. Why is it so important to go to a school like Cornell, CMU, or UPenn? I'm not saying you shouldn't want to go to a school like that -- they proba

Well, they seem to be better at communicating, so maybe they should be paid MORE. But regardless, even if there’s a difference, we have to consider nature vs. nurture. I think men could be brought up to be more communicative, but that’s jus
