Read my other response. It's about having 100% be the normal. There is a difference between having 99.99% all of the time, and having 100% all of the time and 99% in rare occasions. So "100% most of the time" actually makes s

The problem is that you can only meaningfully pair program with programmers. The people involved in architexture/design meetings might not be programmers. The questions that arise when 2 programmers work might not be resolvable without

I think it also depends on how people think. I might be able to sit can't sit in a meeting room/white board/documentation editor and come up with what the big problems is (where pain points in implementation will occur, where

That's not what I mean. I mean that anything but 100% is a "stop the world this is unacceptable" kind of event. So if there is a day when there is a flaky test, it must be rare. To explain further There is a difference betwee

I definitely have 100% pass rate on our tests for most of the time (in master, of course). By "most of the time" I mean that on any given day, you should be able to run the CI pipeline 1000 times and it would succeed all of them,

The thing is that if (f == 0.0) means "is f exactly zero so it's not initialized" 99 times for every one time it means "is f zero-ish because of a cancellation/degeneracy/whatever" I just found that I have

This falls for the famous "hours of planning can save minutes of coding". Architecture can't (all) be planned out on a whiteboard, it's the response to the difficulty you only realize as you try to implement. If you can

I think this makes an assumption early on which is that things are serialized, when usually they are not. If I complete a bugfix every 30 minutes, and submit them all for review, then I really don't care whether the review completes 5

It's really hard I think. I mean if we assume sports betting is never going away (Outside of the US at least, sports betting is barely controversial and is basically now, unfortunately the oxygen of a lot of the whole sports industry).

Yeah I'd argue that the beginner friendly version of the rule is probably "Never use exact == or != for floating point variables" and the slightly more advanced one is "Don't use it unless the value you are compari

I have a linter in my code that shouts at me if I use exact equality for floats. But I regret not making an exception for the constant zero, because it's one of the cases where you probably should accept it. I.e. if (f != 0.0) {...}

So Polymarket would settle the bet based on reporting from a single source? That seems to be very open to manipulation. In fact, for something as inconsequential as this, I'd just bet heavily myself if I were the reporter.

None of the pictures show people with coats on. My experience riding buses in South America was that operators run the AC on "freezing" for some reason. I never figured out why, but some said it was a competition for luxury where

Or we just boot into some console-esque gaming OS or mode to game. I’m not sure why this would be so controversial. The alternative is the one we see here.

I don’t think a sandbox like a VM would work even if it could be done with only 5% perf hit? Wouldnt any game run in a VM be possible to introspect from the hypervisor in a way that is hard to see from inside the VM? And that’s why these an

The order of things here is: 1) develop good systems for completely anonymous age verification. 2) now, potentially, use this in the places you think need age verification. Why are people accepting 2 before 1?

For competitive gaming this becomes a problem. But a good way of solving this in community managed multiplayer games is this: if a player is extremely good to the point where it’s destroying the fun of every other player: just kick them out

What’s the point of trying to push through an income tax if it could have been an easy raise on payroll?

Why not just charge it on the paying end (payroll tax)? It would be the same thing but charged from employers. E.g my Employer pays about 125 to pay me 100 because of payroll tax. Then I receive 70 because the employer also pays my tax dire

Seems like this would be something for a Supreme Court to try. It was ordinary laws and cases (presumably) that had established the norms of equating income with property.

So if one has income tax and property tax separate (which I guess happens now) then presumably one has also codified that income is _not_ property (which I guess is the more common state of affairs )?
