Hypothetically, wouldn't really aggressive archiving accomplish the same task? Have a 0-email inbox, and if you get something that you can't address immediately (but you can take care of later in the day), then you leave it in the

A description would be great (especially when you run into ambiguously named projects or projects with similar names), but I'd also like to see something like download metrics and maybe even comments. The Sublime Text package manager [

Coming from an academic perspective, my knee-jerk reaction to this post is "Awesome, we definitely need this", but after some thought I really don't see this as a necessary job (at least, not for most startups in most areas).

I don't think this is the right approach. I realize that the principle is fundamentally the same with SOPA protests (depriving users of content to highlight the danger of this passing), but there's a more salient argument that you

Agreed. $20 is also kind of steep for an app whose current version only has 2.5 stars in the app store (and 3.0 across all versions). It sounds like it crashes a lot and is missing some seemingly basic features.

That's a really interesting idea; tracking prices and potentially giving a Buy/Wait indicator would be really cool. CamelCamelCamel[0] actually does some price tracking, but I'm not very familiar with what they do with it (wi

Checked my personal domain... $9.00 Checked the same domain sans a hyphen... $23.06 Someone squatted on it to sell it for a markup, asked for something like $150, I laughed at him over the phone. Joke's on me, I guess.

I get the impression that if this wasn't calling on a third-party API (ie if you were indexing the product listings yourself) you'd be able to give more "instant" results, but this is a cool take on search on Amazon (alt

It's interesting reading this from a background in Anthropology, having experienced some of the challenges the article describes. In particular, the perspective that people need to know how to code (Ramsay), and the backlash it evoked

I have some serious questions: - Did you have another person proofread this for you? - Why should she relocate to Pune, India? Why shouldn't you relocate? - How did you come to the conclusion that the world lacks dating apps? - How a

That reads like a question I'd see on Quora. It's open-ended, has virtually no right or wrong answer, and calls for people to evangelize their favorites and perhaps even their own blogs (I realize this sentence might sound like a

At greater risk of exposing my misinterpretation of it than jat850, my understanding was that his domain knowledge allows him to solve the problem directly rather than fumbling around with generic solutions (perhaps solving it accidentally)

That'd be nice, but since CPython is supposed to serve as a reference implementation (and not necessarily be the bleeding edge of speed) I don't hold much hope of performance improvements becoming a top priority (except to make Py

Fun. Sad that I got a combination that sounded like a project I actually worked on. Aside: I'm not getting an error message upon entering the same app name multiple times. Am I stuffing the ballot box, or is the error message (e.g. &qu

There are mediums (pun not intended) where you can make the equivalent of a blog post without much effort (Medium, Quora, I'm sure there are others). And link-bait is more about the marketing used to get people to click on the link (e.

Those clauses seem contradictory. You have a very clear (and in my opinion on point) critique of what you're presenting us, but you don't have the inclination to write a blog post? You even wrote your own top-level comment providi

I agree with sssilver in his disagreement, but there's a nuanced logical flaw here that's not even being addressed. sssilver brings up that someone who has experienced failure in x isn't necessarily a poor source of advice

To be honest it comes off as (at least a little) arrogant in my opinion. It's one thing if I read something along the lines of "This kid is 17 and he's trying to change the music industry" [posted by someone else] becaus

What constitutes a "beginner" in your introduction? You describe Python as "Multiparadigm" but don't explain what that means, which leads me to think that your intended audience is familiar with some programming par
