People generally, especially in younger generations need to accept that the internet != the real world. I’ve had a number of friends on both sides of the isle fall into the internet trap of politics, existential dread and dilution. A few t

To clarify, by "programming" I meant the act of working in a mostly technical role and writing code / architecting systems. The contrary would be working as a PM, TPM or other product / strategy focused position.

Yeah, it’s juvenile and cheeky. Not what I’m looking for when I just want to find what I need efficiently when I look through docs...

Do you / commenters here really “enjoy” programming as a career as much as when they first had enough skill and enthusiasm to build things? I think this is a big misconception among devs with less than five years of exp.

Same effect in Austin. Very interesting to see how the metrics changed when ride-sharing apps were banned as well.

Neumann deserves to have the book thrown at him for this. Although, I wish a more severe fate for Elizabeth Holmes.

I sort of support this for billionaires, however I don't trust the gov't to handle my tax dollars with any amount of reason or efficiency. I also fear that in time the definition of "rich" will be adjusted down as far as

$650 is dirt cheap compared to most HSM pci-e cards or standalone devices. Those can easily start at $20-45k. Mr. Robot actually has some great examples of standalone networked HSM’s!

I think another point that’s important to make is that startups are an industry. I’ve had great experiences at small early stage companies but the draw of getting kids to drop out of college or glorifying “hustle” is all in the end to benef

I tried this with my algo class in college, but my prof also just cared about research and made the entire class a focus of obtuse proofs (still kind of interesting) and not vaguely applicable stuff for interviews etc. In retrospect I proba

As someone who grew up in TX it still stuns me that in 2019, middle school and high school tackle football are not seen as child-abuse. Best of luck to anyone recovering, fortunately I've only had one mild concussion from a bike accide

We need a thread like this. It’s very hard to suss out what the industry definition of a “junior” engineer is. Especially when mid level postings will interview juniors and even let them make it to an on-site (at the chance of a cheaper hi

This can potentially fatal for the career of a junior engineer. For personal projects it’s fine, but taking too much risk or too big a task on without clear boundaries can make you look like you can’t deliver or learn too slowly. Unless I
