You want to maximise the density of information that is visible on the screen. The limiting factor is human working memory: the more that is visible at any one time, the less I have to remember. So it makes sense to divide the screen into a

It's primarily a speed-of-light issue. If the server is on the New Jersey and I'm in London, it takes a perceptible amount of time for the signal to travel between continents. The only way to remove this latency is for the client

I did pause to think about this, but sod's law dictates that if you remove the parameters to main, you will have to add them back in again. :)

Other languages seem to get it right. Even C++! #include <vector> static int foo(std::vector<int> x = {}) { x.push_back(10); return x.size(); } int main (int argc, char const *argv[]) { printf

When we ship node modules to be embedded into Chocolat.app, we have to strip out all the tests and documentation because otherwise it bloats the download size. And the computer it eventually runs on may not be connected to the internet. The

True unless the server is not on the public internet. In that case, pulling the plug if port 22 is accessed would be a reasonably defensible idea (you are being attacked for sure, and it's hard to attack a machine that is off ) ...a

For men, cardiovascular health is most important aspect, heart disease being the largest cause of death[1]. While lifting weights is better than no exercise at all, it is not that effective. There are certainly many people who enthusiasti

Please not, Lua would be easy to implement but if we can only pick one language then it's too similar to JS. We need more diversity, static types+AOT+noGC would be a good start. Also if we do get Swift it will be for the same reason

The same argument would say that it's impossible to write mathematics papers without proof assistants (Coq, etc). Obviously that is bogus, mathematicians are not 'deluded' about their ability to check their work themselves. I

You need a better layout for your API documentation. It's a wall of text. Add in a navigation sidebar, or better yet just copy Stripe. Also the how-tos are too longwinded. You could probably reduce the quantity of prose by 50% or more.

That is not a very good way of scoring, because nobody cares about the difference between about "bad" and "awful" yet those classifications have the most bits of information. Perhaps start at 5 and go to 15.

This is a completely useless article, which creates more questions than it answers. Chiefly among them: why would a linguistic researcher believe that one shared property of Indo-European languages implies a universal grammar?
