Not necessarily stonks, it can also be commodities (oil/etc), or currencies, or anything else. Latency arbitrage is old. Paul Julius Reuter (as in, Reuters) made his first fortune by using carrier pigeons to transmit trade data from Br

The decision is whether it meets the threshold "public interest" (which includes meaning of "broadcast"). And it'll be made either by FCC Media Bureau, or by Commission itself. It's highly unlikely it'll g

AM radio (medium-wave/long-wave) is different from shortwave. In US, similar "utility response" is permitted as well for AM broadcasters, since 1981 https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-81-258

https://visionscarto.net/enquete-reseaux-hft and google translate for the backstory. bandwidth is a few bits per message, a few messages per second. yes you can do more with more bits and more messages, but you can do quite

more specifically, gen1 constellation was 1600 satellites per inclination at 1150km, gen2 is 7100 per inclination at 350km.

That paper is based on gen1 constellation, and predates gen2 (350km) announcement.

a single orbital plane at 53' contains 7028 satellites (out of 40k total, but let's take one orbital plane) basic math, "satellite density" or "average distance between satellites" if they were just at random p

it'd be rather interestink. but shortwave will be competitive with spacex, although at, of course, lower capacities. for inter-market trading, sub-ms latency differences don't matter that much.

starlink latency could be faster than shortwave, once full gen2 constellation launches, and if starlink decides to care about this industry. ...disclosure: i'm the first one to build NY-Chi microwave, and Chi-Lon shortwave.

I'm still around and in the industry. Never promised the lowest latency, but I was the first one by two years to build NY<>Chicago.
