I am personally not a fan of businesses giving money to charity. If they have spare cash, they should give it to their employees (who in a normal business are mainly responsible for the cash surplus) as a bonus - those employees can themsel

I never thought that I would be hit by launch fear. Over the past couple of years, I have conceived and finished a number of reasonably big projects - www.gambolio.com, www.musicgames.co, www.casualgirlgamer.com and www.tiki-toki.com - and

You'd make a better employee than me! Edit: That was not meant as a dig at you but more of an indication of what a shit employee I'd be.

I agree with bits of it. Respect, yes, deference... er, no (the only person I show deference to is my wife), patience, usually.

You are kind of making my point for me. This is a list drawn up from the perspective of a business owner who obviously would prefer all his employees to be egoless automatons who work smoothly together in the most cost-effective and efficie

I hate this list. It should really be called the Ten Commandments of Good Little Worker Programmers. The 'commandments' are all about creating nice friendly programmer cogs that work smoothly together, minimising hassle for their employers.

Probably my two favourite sites coming together. Love the community and feedback you get at Forrst. Love how ColourLovers are helping people to be creative. Good luck Kyle and Darius!

I for one specifically did not apply to Y Combinator this year because of the big stake/small amount of cash they offered, though would have loved the mentoring and publicity. Six per cent for $6,000 per founder might be okay if you are a c

You can currently export to our propriety JSON format. We're looking at more export options: CSV, and maybe the GEDCOM family tree format,

chetane07. Thanks for all your comments. I am glad you like our software. Since you saw the site, we have increased the number of people you can add to a plot with a free account to 30. At present, there are no options for backing up apart

Thanks for the feedback though I should point out that you can drag both the family tree and timeline. Just click and drag. The navigation buttons are just there for people who don't like dragging. Zooming is something we are planning.

Or create two sites - one for family trees, other for organisational charts. Identical except for the branding. See which takes off and focus on that.

We are happy to experiment with pricing. This is however Software as a Service so I think a monthly fee is probably more suitable. The problem with a fixed price for SaaS is that you only receive a one-time fee but you have ongoing costs. Y

Taking people straight to a new peopleplot when they sign up is a good idea that we had not considered, and would remove one more form for them to fill in. With regards use cases, we are not entirely sure what people will want to use it for

Thanks for your positive comments. You are right, no flash. Thanks to hard work by browser developers, you can achieve pretty impressive stuff using just JS, CSS and HTML. I am indebted to them.

No, I was a business/architecture journalist. I have not once put my biochemistry degree to any use. A bit of a waste of time to be honest, but I had a lot of fun and got drunk a lot. Traction for www.tiki-toki.com is pretty good, though no

My advice on completing projects: Developing a big web project can be a bit like running a marathon badly. You put on a giant chicken outfit. Run around trying to trip over celebrities for the cameras. And nearly die of a heart attack. Okay
