I’ve renovated many parts of my house myself. I hired out 1 time to a contractor and regretted doing so. Similar to your sentiment, I feel contractors don’t have the same care as I do. I’ve come to the realization that no one else will put

In my scenario, PBS runs on a VM on my Synology. My Synology does automated backups to Backblaze B2 daily. It averages about $5/TB for B2 storage costs for me.I only backup the critical stuff I don't want to lose.

The only downside is that you essentially lock the GPU to 1 VM which there is nothing wrong with doing. At least with LXC, you can share device across multiple containers.

For me, I check my used bookstores for movies that aren't easy to find anymore. I've had good luck so far. Most used movies including Blu-Ray are around $6 USD.

I did this for a while where I ran multiple VMs, some of which had PCIE passthrough for some GPUs on both Windows and Linux. Luckily my motherboard separated out IOMMU groupings to make this work for me. While you _could_ do this, you may r

From what I remember, some 9600s had the same hardware as a 9800 but had features/processors disabled from the card BIOS. Those could be unlocked with the right BIOS.

Surprisingly it has been smooth. Power modes work as you would expect even across OSes. I always run the graphics mode in hybrid mode to I’m using the integrated chip 90% of the time until something really needs the 3050. In Gnome, you can

I have the older version with the 6900HS but it’s more or less the same. I’ve run pop_os as well as fedora on it. Everything works great but you’ll have to compile the wifi driver https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw89 .

I self-host my stuff as well but with a 2012 Mac Mini running Proxmox. I use it as a means to learn sysadmin things. I get my static IP by using the smallest VPS from vultr with a wireguard tunnel forwarding http/s traffic to a docker

Have you tried the installer that contains nvidia drivers already installed?

Thanks for the suggestion but I've already tried that and many other reported possible fixes that didn't work in my case.

I'd LOVE to have a native macOS client for Overwatch. Since I upgraded to a 2019 16" MacBook Pro, my eGPU no longer works in Bootcamp due to the dreaded Error 12 and I can't resolve it. My eGPU works flawlessly in macOS. Plus

I agree. This book is excellent. It helped me understand D3 immensely and gave me the confidence to start making my own charts from my own data.

You can write your own theme still. I wrote my own. Mine serves 2.6kB for CSS and 16kB for app-specific javascript--mostly for highlighting of code blocks

I'm still of the firm opinion that a blog on Ghost is a great option for most people. It works with very little maintenance; Letsencrypt is built into the CLI tool so it's very easy to get SSL; the editing experience is great; ima

I have a 2015 15" MacBook Pro with an eGPU containing a Vega 64. I haven't really had any issues with it other than some OS hacks to get it working with TB2 instead of the fully supported TB3.

This is incredibly saddening. Joe has left an incredible legacy for us to continue on. I'm saddened that I never got to meet him and thank him for all that he has done.

True. It's highly dependent on what is compared. I should have made my point more clear, however. I care more about what the BEAM provides over performance I can get in other language.
