There's some interesting data/discussion on this out there. Not sure if we'll get updates through 2023 for some sources. https://ourworldindata.org/war-and-peace https://www.un.org/en/un7

I believe parent meant “getting the model to do things creators didn’t intend”, like ChatGPT’s “sorry, as an AI language model…” refusals.

Beyond the content, kudos to the author for crisply and clearly laying out the intent of the article and prerequisites, referring to prior art for larger questions. Really enjoy the style.

I don’t think you really disagree with GP? I think the argument is we peaked on “throw GPUs at it”? We have all kinds of advancements to make training cheaper, models computationally cheaper, smaller, etc. Once that happens/happened, i

Ah, I didn’t realize that. I was thinking in the context of pure policy evaluation. I know rego/opa had a policy performance doc so was curious. Thanks :)

I find it hard to believe disk was snappy compared to modern devices, since original comment mentioned IO. Cpu/memory are down to program behavior in addition to hw. Disk, more size and hw. And HW improvements have dwarfed size incre

I agree with you about non expert subjects and hallucination/believability. But I disagree about time wasting. I use it to generate boilerplate code in languages I’m less familiar with, but can fill in the gaps. It’s stellar for that

I missed the “you’re using” at first, and was about to ask why on earth you keep maintaining host lists :P Totally agree, and at the same time, it’s so painful that there’s a nice haiku — It’s not DNS There’s no way it’s DNS I

I think it’s rerendering the “UI” on data updates. Basically exactly the readme for ink. It’s a single log line of output, but it’s repainted in place, not appended to stdout. Sure you can do that other ways. Personally I’d love to build te

Taking my own example - you can both monitor for panics per http request, while preserving SLO for other requests server by the same process. Crashing the program is strictly worse imo, since there are other concurrent requests which will n

So you've never written code with a bug? There are other ways to panic in go - concurrent map writes, nil pointer dereference. I'm not saying it should happen, but best practice would be a defensive posture especially when it'

A goroutine created inside an http request handler (itself a goroutine) which then panics, by default will crash the whole server, not the single request. The panic could simply be an out of bounds access. That should not crash the whole se

A peer mentioned different types of memory and flip flops. I’d search for JK flip flop or D flip flop/latch for conceptual pointers. Those can be used to build up register files. The logic gates used to build flip flops/latches us

It’s about preventing identity leakage, not using password. I can’t tell if the post was edited, but it already includes how to override per host. I value this and I universally disable password auth…on the server :) E: as listed by others,
