I'm not going to go as far as giving legal advice here, but don't blindly follow the advice above. Doing a patent search can be harmful because it gives you knowledge of the existence of the patents (which is legally significant).

I cannot believe this worked. This is not a Nash equilibrium if you consider that the students are competing for class rank. Getting 100 percent with everyone else is worse than getting 100 percent and everyone else getting 0.
