#1 issue with applets was integration. Was it on the browser? Which version? How does auto-update work? etc. Adobe did an amazing job of making sure Flash was there, and seamless. To the point people barely had an awareness. Java Applets

Admiring one's own culture, or the culture of another, and recognizing the value of them, isn't a 'thin margin' away from xenophobia, I think. FYI I live in an area where I'm a tiny ethnic minority English speaker a

I don't for a second see how the issues we're trying to solve have anything to do with the technology or even social contract of currency.

That's great. I suggest it's probably not a huge factor for most people. But there's a huge amount of information embedded into culture - ideas, mannerisms, forms of education, language, social strata - it goes far, far beyon

Only about 1/2 of Americans at any given time work (very roughly - think kids, elderly etc.) so most Americans don't pay tax is technically kind of correct, but not very meaningful at all in any discussion.

Wealth concentration is a problem but poor countries are not poor because some rich Westerners 'have a lot of power'. Nice sentiment though, and that counts for something.

What he means to say is that the currency goes up, prices go down. So if a currency goes up in value, that's actually economic 'deflation', because the prices of goods go down. Now - I don't agree with any of the comment
