My server seems to be choking... not sure why, since server load isn't particularly high, I'm messing with caching to try to get it under control. And yes, you are absolutely right - the game is based on that video.

I won't get into a long debate, because I doubt it can be constructive (I had a longer post, but it wasn't going anywhere), so I'll just leave it at this: I disagree.

Well, IF there's any future-reading effect to be found, and IF it diminishes over time, then shorter delays would show a stronger effect.

You'd be surprised what lengths people will go to just to get some free stuff.

Completely agree, but the "solo regular person takes on the Internet" narrative has often been more effective than the "solo regular person tries to be perceived as multinational corporation" narrative, depending on the audience.

I am - and to be fair I don't think anyone else used the word "loyalty", so I could be swinging at strawmen, but that's what some of the discussion sounded like to me.

Loyalty or gratitude to an institution makes little sense to me (I'm probably in the minority on this in the general population), simply because an institution is incapable of loyalty or gratitude towards me. I'm loyal or grateful to people

It's not even as "simple" as changing Windows to work well on a tablet. Look at what it took to make the iPad a success: 1) Release a really slick smartphone that is a huge hit 2) Release arguably the most seamless and well integrated app

What's wrong with forums? For a community driven mainly by external content, something like HN/Reddit makes sense - the links are the focus. For a community driven mainly by the visitors' experiences and opinions, a forum is still a remarka

Obliquely appropriate username? :) Just curious, is your boss aware of your cycles, and does he/she plan for them? If not, what effect do you think trying to explain would have?

I'm not that familiar with Wave (other than using it for a bit), but can you expand on the connection between Wave and AI?

Good post, thank you for sharing! How much of your traffic/sales has come from web searches? (you seem to hint that not much). What did you do for SEO?

They might, thanks! I'm mainly looking for bilingual dictionaries, but something like Wiktionary may not hurt as a bonus feature - I hadn't really thought about it.

Thanks, I should have specified - I'm looking for bilingual dictionaries. They don't have to be free, as long as the price isn't exorbitant - I should be able to charge for the webapp (or at least a freemium model), so I don't mind a modes

The point would be to give webmasters a heads-up and time to fix their sites before hotlinking is disabled, not so much to prevent them from using the file.

Seems like part of the problem is that YouTube revenue is tied together to revenue from AdSense for websites, even though the two services are affected by click fraud differently. Now Google is still making money from the author's popular

I understand the economic benefit, but I have yet to see a good explanation of how it might happen. Americans aren't willing to work manufacturing jobs for $5 or even $10 an hour - and you can't support a middle class in the US on $5 or $1

Why? Or, more specifically - how will racing China (and every other developing country) to the bottom in the manufacturing game be sufficient to maintain the middle class?

On the other hand, any time you consider spending dev cycles to accommodate a minor player in the mobile market, you can consider the competitor who instead makes their product better on the main platforms.
