We've been reading epi0Bauqu's posts about DDG here for... what is it now? Over 3 years? At first it seemed like a wonderfully quixotic project - a new, home-grown search engine? Yeah right! But then a year passed, then another, a

They often do, it makes for great material for propaganda videos. It's easier to do for pre-planned battles though, and/or they may have felt they didn't want to spare any ships and risk sacrificing firepower. Or most likely

Well, unless you're hunting NPCs (which is pretty boring), bounty hunting is not a reliable source of income. But you can run a small or even solo pirate operation, preying on lone travelers. Or run goods to dangerous markets in stealt

I'll play devil's advocate and ask: how is this different from the celebrated "Here's to the crazy ones" ads? Granted, these ads are more bland and forgettable, but that's a difference of degree, not kind. Com

It's plausible that BlackBerry may hang on to the 3rd place spot in the smartphone market. Their new phones are fairly solid, and it's plausible that many of their old users would upgrade (the question is how many exactly, versus

I read this initially assuming it to be a clever spoof on the whole startup / crowdsourcing scene, because of the name: pick something that is obviously a joke product ("Soylent Green is people!") and run with it - start piling on impressiv

Another great example is Team Fortress 2. All the characters are carefully designed to be distinguishable at a glance - I remember seeing a great explanation of this a few years back, but can only find this pdf right now: http://www.valve

My developer account probably expired at some point. I kinda lost interest after the makers of the original video threatened to sue me (and they lost interest after they realized the game wasn't making any money). Maybe I'll open source it

Agreed, it can be a lot of fun, and it's also interesting / useful to look back at it after the project is done. Here's a video I made a couple years ago of making a simple iPhone game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpa

In fact, Facebook does quite the opposite - there's always been demand for "see who looked at your profile" apps on Facebook, and Facebook has always gone out of their way to squash them. It's something they most certainly don't want to
