You're right: there are a lot of bugs and this should be improved! However, some of those are subjective opinions: a lot of people do see it as pythonic in syntax, even not if pythonic in other decisions. It is cross compilable and f

Honestly, I feel like you just want different things from your language, and you'd prefer something like Scala or Haskell. I've never heard "hate speech" against functional concepts: I've worked on functional-ish&#x

At least gara can't check exhaustiveness now: require one to add `else` to check all cases: it might be harder in general make sure branches match each possible value. However it should be possible for sum types/enums: `case` alr

You aren't supposed to use different styles in the same codebase: Nim is going to have a tool that can enforce this soon.

But it's so hard to read: I admit a good IDE might help, but maybe it's not bad to prevent this on lang level.

Yes. ADT are case objects: they are widely used. https://nim-lang.org/docs/tut2.html#object-oriented-programm... There are some macros for easier generation: https://github.com/andreaferretti/patty

Interop with C/JS: you can't control all identifiers, because you can reuse a rich ecosystem of other language libs: you can't force their names to change EDIT: you can still change them in importc pragmas, but this still see

Nim's multisync macro is another nice approach: on compile time it transforms the same function to a sync and async variant

Nim is another language with a JS backend and it is also kinda good at this: it has a pretty good type system, but it's easy to use it gradually for JS code. You have a `JsObject` type (which is basically `any`) which lets you write yo

Another quite fast language with GC(actually you can choose between several), generics and ADT(also pattern matching with libraries) is Nim. People also use it for concurrent code, but I don't have so much experience in that aspect

well I wasn't sure what you mean by abstraction. typically languages like Haskell, OCaml are based on great abstractions (and are good to express new ones, especially from a type-system point of view). If you're looking for langua

I have implemented source maps for the js backend : https://github.com/nim-lang/Nim/pull/7508 They aren't merged yet in the upstream compiler because I wasn't sure if I wanted to refactor the jsgen

I still find Rust's syntax relatively nice and love Python. A "system" language with similar to Python's syntax is https://nim-lang.org/

There is even a library(in a very early stage) that tries to semi-automatically translate Python programs to equivalent Nim idioms: https://github.com/metacraft-labs/py2nim

Go is nice for its niche, and it can be very cool after using Python. Still it feels too simplistic and limited as a language to me, which includes the "low level" part: it's not "optimally" fast and it's not v
