I'm the opposite: for me extra or bigger screens are overrated. I'm definitely the minority because almost all my colleagues have a second screen. I think DHH is the only one I have seen using a 13" because of the focus. And

Talking about ancient Windows software... Windows used to have an API for automation in the 2000s (I don't know if it still does). I wrote this MS Access script that ran and moved the cursor at exactly the pixel coordinates where butto

Was looking for something AI specific. Those are B2B services from their cloud.

Can you describe this more? Curious as I was looking at their offerings.

That SiriLLama project looks awesome! I'll give it a try. I also just spun up https://github.com/ItzCrazyKns/Perplexica to try a local Perplexity alternative.

It isn't clear if you can know when the task gets handed off to their servers. But yeah that'd be the closest I know. I'm not sure it would build a local knowledge base though.

Does anyone know of a local "Siri" implementation? Whisper + Llama (or Phi or something else), that can run shortcuts, take notes, read web pages etc.? PS: for reading web pages I know there's voices integrated in the browser

Last time I looked at Aurora (just as it came out) it was hilariously expensive. Are the costs better now for a real use case?

by aledalgrande 2y ago
Exactly. Mine hasn't changed for years, but I still need to pay this tax.

That "not on AA hardware" error from an app running on a plain Android tablet should be criminal.

Curious: for this type of infra, what do people use for file/object storage? Using something like AWS would negate all the savings with egress costs.

My friend left them in a rental car. He spent more than a week seeing them coming on and offline in Find My and moving around in a university area. Assumed someone had stolen them. Finally called the rental company and got access to the car

Company cards and expenses exist. Also can’t believe you never once shared a card with someone in your family?

Security that is too hard and inconvenient to use is not security any more, because users are going to get around it.

Can you store things other than passwords, e.g. credit cards? I doesn't seem so, but I only gave it a quick look. Would love to switch but that is a hard requirement for me. Also, does it only work well with Safari?

I see both points but I have to agree with this one, especially if we’re talking small companies. A startup should outsource everything that is outside their core product (but not more than that), so they can focus on making their product t

They don't need clawback. They can just dilute the f out of you. Which is what happens most of the time anyways

It sounds like you didn't limit the number of report runs in your subscription model, is that correct?

It's probably Accenture and if not, something similar. Where they put graduates to do all the work and then charge the hourly for senior devs.

After years of using Visio/Plant UML, or similar products that allow you to write clear charts, I am enjoying the freedom of constraints that Excalidraw gives you. It feels a lot more like whiteboarding somehow. Now they have an AI gen
