So I'm not sure if it's because of problems from the host of the CryptPad instance or because of CryptPad itself, but I've been using CryptPad for a collaborative spreadsheet for a weeks now, and it's been absolutely awf

I have a similar setup as OP, and I use ZFS snapshots to be able to quickly rebuild the whole machine on another host. Of course, it still requires manual intervention in an outage (it could be automated, theoretically), and I may lose up t

Yes, ZFS snapshots are atomic, so as long as the database use sane semantics to do disk I/O, you're fine (AFAIK, PostgreSQL and MySQL/InnoDB are ok, MySQL/MyISAM is not though). A snapshot is effectively identical to a k

It is inefficient, but it makes cheating much harder (but unfortunately still possible, it will never be possible to prevent it completely).

This chart does not support the referred claim at all. Payouts are not only linked to the browser's hardening, but also to the amount of affected users. Given Firefox's engine low market share, it's not very surprising that p

I think the person you replied to meant that gateway firewalls enable sloppy endpoint security (which I agree with).

So wrong that the GoPro that the retiree was wearing was not even turned on, which is a shame, even if I doubt that the footage would have been released.

Yes, opening a DC circuit under load can be very surprising. The arcs can just stay on forever, and pose a big fire hazard.

Oh right, the output is parametrized by the input. I suppose this is what dependent types are. That's really awesome. Thanks for the explanation.

I've had to do something like that for an awful application where the frontend did chunked downloads, but didn't check properly for the status code, embedding error pages directly in the downloaded file. As I had no control over t

I don't think pattern matching and union-types makes narrow typing useless. Rust has both pattern matching and union types but still implements some specific forms of control-flow based typing. For example, consider this Rust snippet :
