The catch with cling and the derived libraries is in that you have to download a whole bunch [1] of CERN stuff and then build a customized LLVM as part of the build process. That's a bit too heavy for the nice reflection- and REPL-like

For the sake of illustration, there's a simple but realistic example at the very end of my talk at this year's EuroPython: https://speakerdeck.com/aldanor/pybind11-seamless-operabilit... (reimplementing rolli

A typical use case is pushing loops in the hot path of your code to the C++ space. A simple loop that does nothing like `for i in range(int(1e9)): pass` takes about 20 seconds to execute in Python on my machine, whereas in C++ the overhead

In fact, pybind11 was heavily influenced by Boost.Python, to the point where some of the syntax may look quite similar. It has one obvious advantage though, in that it doesn't depend on Boost :)

Some may find it useful: I've written a Jupyter notebook extension for pybind11 a while ago, so you can write C++ in the notebook and it gets automagically compiled and imported into the kernel (plus you get C++ syntax highlighting and

So many people don't realize pandas can be horribly slow if you use it "wrong" -- i.e., for computations that don't vectorize in the way that's native for pandas. Also, working with dataframes that contain millions

If you're into both C++ and Python, I recommend pybind11 [1] - Cython is a crutch and moreover C++ is not a first class citizen in it. For reasonably large codebases Cython just doesn't scale and debugging is a total nightmare. Di

The latest TiddlyWiki is actually pretty good for this. I remember using it about a decade ago -- and I've recently started using it for various dev-related stuff, e.g. documenting how to configure this or that; it's surprisingly

To a developer not familiar with Emacs, I'd first recommend to start with Spacemacs so they don't have to configure anything nor learn Emacs shortcuts... then Magit (shipped as git layer in spa Emacs)... and then org-mode. I had a
