Harassment is usually defined as some repetitive unwanted targetted behavior, particularly where it has been made clear that the behavior is unwanted. I don't think a single comment is going to be considered harassment.

Perl is not bytecode based. It compiles to a data structure, essentially an AST. I've never seen anything close to C-like performance from Perl, not in anything computational.

I worked with a lot of K&R C in the early 1990s, getting software to run on newer compilers and Solaris. I actually learned C++ before I learned C. It still looks strange to me. I believe the parameter declaration style comes from ALGOL
