That's crackpot talk. Both fluoride and mercury amalgam are considered safe by current scientific understanding. You need to build up actual science to disprove that rather than make ridiculous claims based on proximity of fillings to

I don't know why you would make this argument now. Stallman argued clearly in January why copyleft was more important to him than technical superiority. https://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2014-01/msg00247.html

Z3 Compact? If there's a market for certain devices, companies will sell them. What do you expect companies to do here? I don't understand this discussion.

The AP article is from 2013. I question the surprise in the original article though -- we've known that Greek and Roman buildings and statues were painted.

You can do functional programming in Lisp, but even the wiki page for GOAL says "GOAL encourages an imperative programming style". Not to mention most Lisp data structures being mutable if we're talking purely functional.

If you work with a lot of bad software, a better conclusion might be that producing good software is hard for multiple reasons than it being a "game".

Well, I disagree with what is happening with OS X at any rate. Everyone's realized by now that the Post PC era stuff isn't really true and I don't think that truck analogy holds. OS X has been getting much more attention the

Your moderation is getting too heavy handed. People are interested in this topic and you are unilaterally killing discussion. It's not like the site is being taken over as it was with some of the NSA topics.

Stallman got $240k from MacArthur in 1990. Pretty sure he's burned through that by now. The Takeda award in 2001 was split three ways so his take was at most $300k.

There are numerous tools that work on text files without knowing a specific structure. Some tools are more sophisticated with their knowledge of formats and can do more with the text files. Binary files don't allow for this extremely u

There"s no efficiency requirement on atomicity. Who said we need POSIX filesystem semantics anyway? Is it so important we should trade scalability? Obviously that wasn"t the s3 design choice.

Memory safety can't guarantee security or correctness. If you guys want to have a better discussion, you need to be even handed about the complexity of security. Languages can solve some classes of security problems.

The best optimizing compilers are C and C++ compilers (as far as I know), perhaps Fortran but even that is getting more esoteric. I think that's why the assembly idea persists.

Racket isn't new. It's a scheme which has been in development for around 20 years. Reading their thread, it sure sounds like they want to work with the community to make Racket code viewing a good experience.
