It's only not a tech problem if every service has Google levels of server capacity and performance. Websites still regularly fall over when posted on aggregation sites.

Corvettes are known for getting unusually high mpg on the highway. I always understood the primary factors to be light weight and tall gearing. V8 Silverados don't get great highway mileage, right?

The Corvette is a significantly lighter vehicle due to its fiberglass body. I consistently got 19mpg or less in my 335i. They've improved the mileage a bit in newer versions, but not much. An M3 would be worse of course.

Step 1: find the correct source code. Reading code has its place and tracing code has its place. I have difficulty understanding nontrivial codebases without some amount of tracing. In this case you chose to present the source for a FreeBSD

To be fair, Google's army of researchers does publish a sizable number of papers and participate in conferences. I don't want to make it sound like they are a vacuum or not contributing to human knowledge. I am just having issues

Much of the driverless car tech is from CMU and other universities who have been working on it for 30 years. Google hired several people from CMU and Berkeley. Are they putting resources into it and improving it? Absolutely. I just don'

This makes it sound like they want another VM alongside existing JS VMs specifically for Dart. Isn't that making the same mistake again of not specifying a general purpose VM?

I don't buy the arguments that trade jobs are a good option. It's especially hard to swallow from a college graduate who belongs to an anti-union political party. Unless you are unwilling or unable to go to college, the numbers in

Sure, for scripts, adhoc analysis, command line hacking and whatnot, go ahead. Regexes should be seen more like a last resort than a good software engineering choice. They're a code smell. I have seen so many incorrect, slow regexes fr
