I never said only Microsoft can do everything. The provide the easiest solution that just automatically ties everything together. My company builds actual things, we don't want to spend time fiddling with custom software integrations.

I wonder if it's just because you're particular. I don't give two shits about any of those products, I just grab whatever. Thinking about it, I really don't care about any brands, so it's impossible for me to pick t

What exactly is your problem with Microsoft? Are you just an edgy "I use Linux guy?" I use Linux too, it's my daily driver. But when you're managing office workers and sales people that have to interface with regular peo

I'm talking about it like someone who has used alternatives and came to like it after many years. It allows me to manage 250 users comfortably with 1 admin in a decently high turnover environment and spend my time actually getting work

Yeah which is why so many people have problems with vitamin D, not enough sunlight. That's hard to control, but you can take vitamins daily.

Halving a 0.00001% chance that you get some crazy infection from flushing the toilet is definitely neurotic. You're better off saving the 2 seconds and not thinking about it. "But it's still half!" Half of nothing is not

No, I don't want to cobble together an office suite, email server, user auth, identity management, file sharing, meeting scheduling, and messaging system from scratch and then train users how to use this Frankenstein system and also su

My thoughts exactly. The systems already probably exist for easily creating and deploying VMs, identity management, etc. In 2022 that's pretty turnkey stuff for a University.

I've worked for university sized companies. I'm not sure why setting up a fileshare would be difficult. What's to sign off on? Space and a couple VMs? Red tape aside, I don't see the challenge.

For a fileshare? What exactly is the challenge here? Bandwidth might be, but most colleges probably have a pretty solid fiber connection.

Well the first rule in photography is set up your lighting properly. Low light is hard for professionals. Don't expect good results in shitty lighting conditions. It's kind of important.

If the camera wasn't designed for video the sensor can over heat as it takes power to drive it.

I think that's my argument. If a developer thinks C or C++ is really that difficult and they can only write effectively in Python, they're a shitty developer and the world seems to be jam packed with them.

Some really well done channels are unwatchable for me due to this in tangent with using an audio compressor wrong (attack set way too long) makes it even worse from pumping.

That's like asking what the benchmark for an engine is. It all depends on what you're trying to do with it. There's no single metric to compare a diesel semi truck engine to a 2 stroke golf cart. You need multiple measures an
