Funnily enough, I remember Blue Moon better for SkyRoads. I wrote a semi-clone of it in Qbasic (learning a bit about 3D projection on the way). I later ported it naïvely to Python and it ran slower. :D

Well, no matter the CPU power, etc. but I can tell you my Galaxy S3 still manages to exhibit (occasionally infuriatingly) long lag spikes when opening the browser; SMS messaging app; gallery (both built-in and QuickPic)... and other tasks.

Or if it works at all like Scrubby ( http://nornagon.github.com/scrubby/ ) which was on HN a couple days ago, it might rewrite all constants into global lookup table indexes, which surely wreaks havoc on performance.

Plain and simple (if you could ever call it that) exploratory programming? The sort that yields stuff like Jared Tarbell's stuff http://levitated.net/daily/index.html and many Chrome Experiments, etc.

But wget and curl aren't for humans, whereas HTTPie is. I've done plenty of `wget -m -np`s (and `puf -r` when I've had to saturate my Internet pipe...) which isn't what HTTPie does.

Yep, one does. That's what happened. :) But this struck me as particularly weird for being so intricate being based on such a simple variation of the basic pixel-by-pixel floodfill formula.

OP (well, discoverer of the algorithm) here: Thing is there is no per-step randomness. The small integer (pickOffset) only adds some variation to the algorithm, and is initialized only when you hit Space. I'm pretty sure that if pickOffset
