Does this take care of subscriptions, or is this for one-time payments?

Let's be honest, that's where the money is. Casual gym goers who will come in twice a week for 30 minutes (and then possibly stop coming, but keep paying) on a Nautilus, followed right away by a nice glass of Jamba Juice. Gym goer

Any of them properly equipped for strength training? Went ot at least a couple in the area where they didn't want people to use chalk and the floors were not meant to hold anything heavy, so they'd forbid you to deadlift.

Very honest retrospective, that was a great read.

Is there a list of interesting practical use-cases for this that someone used to regular dynamic Clojure could look at to better understand the benefits?

Read Practical Vim published by the Pragmatic Bookshelf. You'll go from n00b to "pretty good". Takes a long time to work your way through the text, as it's both thick and very dense, but every single page will empower yo

When in doubt, just do regular time-tested strength training and you'll be fine. Works 100% of the time, 0 bull.

Knowing that Valve will from now on be heavily supporting game development and deployment onto Linux machines is very encouraging.

Love PG and the community around it. The IRC channel on #freenode has been an invaluable resource with a lot of very patient folks in it answering very dumb questions (mostly from me).

Have been using DejaVu Sans Mono for years, it's fantastic and really easy on the eyes.

Securedservers looks pretty good. More expensive than OVH, but it seems that they have a much more available customer support team. Would that be a fair characterization?

I've been using s3cmd for a while now. Am I correctly seeing that the new CLI tools, or at least the s3 portion, are pretty much a replacement for that?

I used "grep" in a generic way. My comment referred to whatever grepping tool available on that platform, which at the time was indeed findstr, as you suggested, and Powershell. Of course it'd have been silly to expect a Wind

Knew an SDE II with 10 years of experience at MS who didn't know how to grep through a file to find out which log lines started with a certain word. Guy seemed have been holding pretty well onto his job, probably senior by now. Plenty

Big fan of Ansible, it's great that they'll have more resources to keep making the product even better.

Do you know of any good guides for how to fine-tune Clojure in situations where you need to trade elegance for performance? What you did that is great, so I'm wondering where I'd be able to find out more about such techniques.

I'm thinking your post would benefit from a recommendation as far as the "next closest thing" to MSSQL, since you're exhorting DBAs to make a transition, and minimizing friction would be an important aspect of it.

Brent, to which db flavor do you recommend people migrate? Thoughts on Postgres? Btw, loved your vlog post on scaling SO's db layer.

The point is that the timestamp type is meant more for calendaring, unless you're manually normalizing the dates you're passing into postgres to a certain timezone like UTC. Timestamptz is what you actually want 99% of the time.

What's the recommendation for hosting Postgres on a VPS these days? DigitalOcean doesn't seem to offer NAS drives, and I believe Linode is in the same boat.

Interesting, it'd be good to have community-drive alternative to the JVM, like some kind of a Postgres of VMs. Also tail calls are what people complain about with Clojure on the JVM, so this would address that problem.
