Wow. Why was this flagged? Can someone not come here, be honest and candid, and ask for help with something they're recognizing as a problem? I hope whoever felt the need to flag this gets treated better if they're ever in need of

Keep writing. Do it badly until you get better. Listen to Seth Godin. He talks about this, often.

Your profile says you're in WA. How close are you to Portland? We should have a beer and swap stories. I'm in a similar situation.

Having a dumb moment. What is meant by "flicker-free"? I don't recall a "flicker" when I boot my machine to Fedora <29.

I generally recommend against setting up your own email server. Most people just want to use it and not maintain it. However, in circumstances like this where you want to escape a crappy solution, I have been recommending "Mail I

Hazel is amazing. That said... I'm no longer a Mac user. There are no good Windows equivalents. I wish I had enough programming knowledge to write a truly cross-platform equivalent. This is a serious itch I'd like to scratch.

If it resulted in long-term engagements... a lot. Honestly, I'm not spending enough time doing sales stuff, because I'm too busy with the technical work. But I know I need to.

Can't agree with this one enough! If this book existed before I started college, I'd have read this and skipped the business major!

I would also say no, absolutely not. It's not worth it in the least. I have been a Mac user for less time (~16 years for me) than the previous commenter. I have lost confidence in Apple's ability to deliver: a. a quality laptop

I've love to talk to you, but I don't see any contact info in your profile. Care to reach out to me? (my contact info is in my profile) I don't have sage advice. Just wanted to offer some encouragement. Cheers.

Part of me wonders if part of this isn't in inflated (and unrealistic) expectations. Society (American society, at least) drills it into your head... You want to buy a house. You must go to college. These are societal metrics for

I bout a full spec XPS 9560, the second time my '16 MBP went in for repairs. The same generation CPU, the same storage (2TB) and double the RAM... and it's $1000 less than the full spec MBP. I wonder how long before a lot more fol

My first response would normally have been to say "Amazon", but I have a subscription to O'Reilly Safari. I'm learning to check there first to see if that "new shiny" book is there first.

Nice! I never thought I'd see mention of something close to home on HN. I grew up in Port Angeles. Ocean in your front yard, mountains in your backyard, rivers, lakes, hunting. The works. It was a beautiful place.
