I was going to come here and say this, but you beat me to it. I work from home, and also have children. They won't LET me get my priorities out of whack. :)

Hi Brian, Thank you for reaching out. I love it when company folks will get into the conversation on HN. As far as connection, I've got 300/300 from Frontier. It's good, and I can help out my friends. But more questions below

I realize my comment is a tangent. I'm hoping folks might be understanding and hopefully have some advice. If you have terabytes to back up, are there still any backup services left that'll let you ship them a drive for a faster i

For me, one of the most crucial ways is to have a separate room where I do work. When I'm in my office, the door is closed. Our daughter is instructed not to interrupt me unless she's been told to do so. She leaves me alone to wor

Apply for jobs anyways. Don't wait until you "check all the boxes." One thing that may help is to put up repos of stuff you've worked on, on GitHub. Contribute to open source projects that align with things you're i

If you can do programming now, and you have a remote gig... then I'm guessing you can get more work. You have a lot of potential to earn more income to do more of the same work you're doing already. That's probably the easies

I've learned that I can work until I drop... but if I don't prioritize my health, I've got nothing. I mean this mostly for physical health, but it could as easily apply to mental and emotional health too.

When you have another chance to negotiate, don't forget about non-monetary forms of compensation. More vacation time, training budget, perks. Money isn't the only part, it's just one part of the whole picture.
