Generally speaking, making major changes in our character/passions/work etc just to please someone is not sustainable, this is true in both personal and work lives. I am facing something similar, but from a family member. In my

With the amount of resources that Microsoft has, how hard can it be for them to exclude proprietary code that other people have stolen? I’d bet it is easy for them, but they won’t do it. Because they don’t care, because who is gonna take on

Yes, people who want to commit suicide might still succeed. That doesn't mean Amazon or you or I need to make it easier for them or facilitate them.

There was a site that was making 50k USD per month, providing very basic analytics. This was in the early days of Twitter. Even if it lasted only 6 months at 50k, that is 300k , for a side project. It all depends on timing, risk vs reward e

How about not using bundling algorithms for chemicals and pharmaceuticals, the entire category? And stick to recommending cute t-shirts and such? Amazon’s recommendations are mostly crap anyways, even for mundane, straightforward stuff. The

Understandable. There is just too much money and fame in sports - people are going to try to cheat. It is upto the governing bodies to reduce cheating to a minimum, if eliminating it completely isn’t practically feasible. I agree with other

Lance’s case is interesting. Cheating is (was?) rampant in cycling. As Bill Burr joked “our roided up guy beat your roided up guy, what’s the big deal?” I don’t think chess is as bad as cycling. Doesn’t excuse bad behavior, but gives some p

Produce is of lower quality in general, in the U.S. And also more expensive, compared to meat. I have never eaten meat in my life. Out of curiosity, I checked the prices of chicken vs produce. It was depressing to see how much chicken I can

Agree with what you say. But your job, however hard it might be, is more palatable when you have people at your call and when you’re insanely rich. Contrast this with the lady at CVS near my home - she is at least in her 70s, looks frail an
