I work for Citrix (the company behind GTM) though in another team, and we use it internally and it works beautifully for very large All Hands Meetings too. Not shilling my company, but I really like GTM.

While it is too early to comment about wave specifically, I wonder how a big company would handle a flop of such a product. A flop being lack of expected level of usage.

I think in the Wordperfect biography by the ex-CEO clearly shows that they had faltered in their execution. They just did not have the same vision which Microsoft had. Each of these above mentioned companies were behemoths in their own fiel

Windows would have won even without this "extortion". They had played brilliantly with IBM in 1980's and realised the importance of GUI. Everything else which was "illegal" definitely helped their cause but none was enough to block the Wind

"great first step" is not necessarily accurate. It normally takes a lot of time before content gets traction in Search Engines. SEO is more like one of the arrows in the quiver, which is extremely efficient(profitable).

Again, Android is not in the Geek market. It just happens that their aesthetics seem to appeal to geeks. Google would love my mom to be using an Android Phone.

Microsoft is definitely not looking at this short term. When they talk about a billion devices they are talking about being everything to everybody. So my guess would be that they would want my mom and everyone else all to use it. The other
