Services/products of a company usually bring one of the following to customers: 1) improve revenue, 2) lower costs or 3) manage risks. RedHat is probably mostly about the last one, manage the risks of running linux.

A freelance GP (waarnemend huisarts) in the Netherlands makes on average 65 euros per hour... It pays better to be a freelance software engineer. Less education required, less responsibilities, impact of mistakes is also usually less.

Seeing that both US parties are right wing according to most definitions in the world, a new US center party would be nice to the left of the democrats. Might not be a bad idea, as it might make the democrats more acceptable to republicans?

European countries may have generous benefits for raising children, but they’re not even close to covering the costs of children. I doubt there are many people who will decide to have children based on these benefits.

Housing prices have only gone up for people that have purchased a new house this year. For people already living in a house, mortgage payments have mostly been stable, or possible even lower, when refinancing for a lower rate. So i can imag

I doubt an lcd display in a laptop costs a vendor more than $10. So that would make it a 16 million dollar company. If a E-Ink display costs $100, it would still only be a 160 million dollar company...

Wait till you’re old and live in a house filled with memories. And especially when you’re older, you should be able to rely on your friends and family around you, and not be forced to move to a new area where you know nobody, and cannot as

Yes, often it is a bad equilibrium. When prices rise, taxes rise, and often people who were able to live somewhere no longer can. They're forced to move, eventhough they'd rather stay. This also happened in the bay area, where peo

Yes, remember friends typing in games from a magazine on a zx81 around 1983. Horribly slow with the membrane keyboard. And then someone would touch the table, the 16Kb memory extension would disconnect and all work would be gone...

That’s why I use a cheaper sportwatch: it’s too expensive for “extreme” situations. Lost one while windsurfing, it’s at the bottom of the ocean. Fortunately the price wasn’t too bad, 140 euros, so less painful to replace. I won’t consider a
