I don't understand this line of thinking. The product is outstanding and likely will be, if it is not already, the lifeblood of Cognitect as a company (in conjunction with their consulting services I'm sure). What is wrong with a

Matt, are you not concerned that the USDS could be removed with the transitioning of President Trump. If I'm not mistaken it's part of the executive office so not only could it be undone, but it could be undone swiftly with the st

If you are a programmer and you are serious in asking this question I'd suggest reevaluating your career. I've hired many developers over the years and seeing a project like this would make me hire you in an instant!

I didn't see him claiming that spec is better than all type systems. Obviously, Haskell has one of the better type systems. Languages like C# and Java are not near as expressive so when he says most type systems, I'd agree...spec

Many reasons to this and something has to change at some point. But just a couple of points is that if everyone receives it then nobody can be robbing the system as everyone is entitled to it. Another point that the HN crew should be well a

I'm not dinging Rails for that. Like I said I've done some successful applications with Rails. The difference I'd say between Clojure is you learn those from the bottom up, whereas with Rails you learn from the top down. Eith

I've been doing Clojure for the better part of 3 years now and I'm not sure I get why people feel doing web development in Clojure is hard. Our first foray in Clojure was/is an API to manage our users that was built by 2 deve

Last I saw the battery expectation is around 15 years. In 15 years, at the rate of development of EV's and research/development being put into batteries, it would be reasonable to expect that batteries would be significantly cheap

Right. Like almost any other subject, there will be a handful of people at the top and below them many more who are likely very good at what they do, but will probably never achieve what the top x% do. I consider myself one that's very

One step in solving it is adding more marginal tax rates. It's silly that they stop at 400k and 39%. I'd also introduce progressive taxing on capital gains as that's a primary way the wealthiest individuals get around income

Not that you can necessarily pinpoint a specific date for release when dealing with hardware but I have to believe, with no hard evidence, that releasing new products right after Christmas and just before tax time has to be one of the worst
