I always wonder where it is best to start getting into trading stock. Like a place where you can play with a few shares but are not overwhelmed with lots of fees for simple transactions. Any suggestions? Possibly in Europe?

I was about to ask, how he would deal with staying, as you can't simply choose a country but must conform to its visa regulations. He might be there as a tourist for now but I would think that cannot do so forever.

I always wished there were a service where you could go to several weeks after a news story and ask the question "I wonder what happened to x". This service was getting my hopes up but I am afraid it will just list me 100+ news stories arou

Even though thinkery's ( http://thinkery.me/ ) main purpose is not storing bookmarks it handles quite a few of the points that you list well. check it out.

todo lists are not it's main purpose, but I use thinkery which can do it too by giving things a #todo tag. http://thinkery.me/

Still don't quite get it. You will manipulate my inbox and I can control the way you do it through the web interface?

Ok but how so? I see screenshots which seem to come from a web page. I think you need to explain that before I would be willing (would I be using gmail) to register with your service.

I have a little trouble understanding whether you are actually a web-based pop/imap client or whether I would get a @lightermail.com address. (I assume the former, as it says " Gmail Support with more to come..." but I think you should expl

I think you need to make a better job at explaining what webshell is, I only see buzzwords where I understand it actually is a "one javascript interface to many different apis" which is really awesome. Also, I think you should show more pro

On a side note, your page specifies <meta http-equiv="Content-language" content="fr" /> but is in English, therefor Chrome offers to translate it from French to English.

Did you once do a calculation of the price as to the percentage of the money it costs in relation to the money you generate using this tool?

I think it is a valid point. If it provides the value to you. I don't get these price discussions. If you earn your money by programming, I think it is crazy to be cheap on your tools if you can get the job better done using them. If you pr

As I understand it, it acts as a reporting tool for errors that occur in your web app. For example, when a user encounters an exception you get notified about it while at the same time squash gives you a nice interface to view how many time

Sorry, my question was not actually meant to be about this Google situation but about the general approach to using your own CA instead of self-signed certificates.

What about having your own (self-signed) CA? You sign your own certificates and import that CA on your computer. Would this effectively prevent a man in the middle attack?

This is especially valid as the Google server sends a far-future expires header (see below), so as soon as the browser has the file in its cache it won't even try to contact the Google server for a new version of the file. So even if Google

Asked pg to integrate my script but he wouldn't do so, even though he would have just had to copy the Javascript over (I had adapted the code for him). So I guess, pg just doesn't think it's useful.

Well, a bug report would have been nice then :) Of course this one could have some advantages, I was just pointing out my bookmarklet that also provides that "collapse whole thread" feature. That Chrome extension also has a neat "new postin

The core critical point that I have about subversion is that you'll likely ruin your perfectly working code by the having to "svn up" before you can "svn ci". In git it's the other way round, you can go back to your working version and star

It might be due to the fact that it is about Wikipedia. Most people have strong feelings about Wikipedia because it has become a big part of many people's internet experience. And people usually don't like change and can become offended whe

I feel the same way, I wonder if this has anything to do with fact that github has their servers only in the US (even though it's east coast) and this therefore adds some latency for us over in Europe.

Indeed. Quite amazingly someone told the author in a comment only 2 years after the post was published in 2008 of this error. Too bad the author didn't bother to correct this fatal flaw.

pg doesn't seem to be interested in doing that. I created a script ( http://alexander.kirk.at/2010/02/16/collapsible-threads-for-... ) and sent him something to cut and paste in order to add it to HN. Would have been minimal effort but app
