A particular malware contacted its command and control servers via procedurally generated domain names (to make it difficult to shut down just a single domain that controlled it). Malware researchers reversed a sample of the malware and sta

Unicode is an inspirational standard. We started with so many different character encodings and wound up pretty universally using Unicode. I wouldn't be surprised to see browsers start to drop support for other encodings - who even use

It will be interesting to see what wins out. I'm personally not optimistic that battery technology will get much better from a charging perspective than it already is. But that would be fine in my book too, if we reduced that to ~5 min

There would be measures in place to prevent this, of course. They'd have to be more robust than Redbox scanning for fake DVD returns, but you could sign the battery firmware, do challenge/response, etc. before allowing the swap to

Yes, exactly. The batteries from customer cars will be recharged and re-used. You'd also have a reserve of extras for peak demand. You could even automate health check-ups on the batteries this way too, and decommission the rotten ones

I think recharging is a transitory solution anyway. The real game changer will be automated battery swaps. Imagine stopping at the charging station and having the entire battery pulled out and replaced with a charged one, pit-stop style. It

Let me be clear: there are conditions that are routine, and whose treatment is deferred to roles that are not as specialized as a doctor. That does not mean that the provider/patient interaction is any less personable just because the

I would posit that GP doesn't know what they're talking about at all, and therefore chose to broadly slander "doctors" as if it's one single field.

This is crock. The reason you see the same treatments and basic medicines and panels each time you go to the GP is because your problems are pedestrian compared to what doctors actually train for. Most likely, you're not even being see

This is some Orwellian shit. An 88 million dollar investment combined with government-sanctioned Tom-peeping, to save an estimated 100 lives? That money would go a lot farther invested in modernizing vehicle safety, requiring lane assist fe

Cool visualization! Any plans to do more examples of SVG? There's lots of functionality in the format and it would be neat to see it documented in an interactive style like this.

It's interesting the contrast between the Sonos soundbar piece and the networking setup - both are described as simple, but I think one is much more complicated to set up than the other. So I suppose it's about the end result bein

Does this apply to the "special Constitution zone" that intrudes 100 miles inland from the US border? Doesn't matter if it's constitutional or not if you're in a no-constitution zone.
