I agree with all of this, but I don't think Gates will accept the job. He's very committed to his foundation, which is a much bigger opportunity for large-scale benefit to billions of people than CTO of the USA.

Adventure requires exploring the unknown. Thus, you never know whether you will be taking the "safer" path, but that's the fun.

not "could have," "did" get a lot cheaper. Most of El Mariachi's costs were actual film and processing; nowadays you can rent a camera for a week for $500 which will give you film quality.

Why? Zuckerberg has done what a lot of us want to: write code that is used by millions of people and earns us billions of dollars.

Why do you say that? Do you think people are going to lose interest in the things they do on Facebook, or do you think a new competitor is going to provide a product sufficiently better than Facebook to take over the market?

No, he suggested a system which if implemented would eliminate spam in 2 years' time. Nobody implemented that system, so we still have spam. I'm not going to summarize the system here, you can Google that.

Yes, have you ever seen the film that accumulates on the inside windshield of some cars on a very sunny day? It's vaporized and then condensed dashboard material :\

too bad that the 200 person line clubs are rarely worth going to anyways, unless you derive your utility from the actual act of getting in where they cannot (it seems as though you do)

I've run psych studies at MIT. 90% of subjects are MIT students, unless the prof specifically has to get a broader cross-section in which case the study becomes annoying, expensive, and delayed. All general social science is implicitly the

Not really. The CIA and its ilk are so clueless that their pages are probably indistinguishable from that of a typical MySpace user, if not in form then at least in the value of the content.

My friend Laura's dad had LASIK in both eyes; one eye was made perfect and one eye went blind. Another friend had PRK in both eyes with no ill effects. Just two anecdotes for you to make your decision.
