No useful advice for you, but as a noob, I was under the impression YC gives everyone the same standard offer to everyone. Has that changed?

I think it's worth pointing out that even Apple's own developers don't get the luxury of being able to push out bug fixes whenever they want. Point releases of the iPhone OS are often months apart, so good testing is not optional for them.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I guess it's a bit unfair for me to expect you to get at the personal motivations and philosophy of a startup founder, while at the same time grilling them on the ethics behind their business. I have t

I was just beginning to warm up to Mixergy. I liked the Noah Kagan interview, which was also popular here. Gambit seemed like a really great company, and they both kept mentioned how much they liked the food at Chipotle. Only a week later

If anyone has been watching the new Apple over the past decade, it is obvious that they are not interested creating new market areas, but rather coming late to an established areas and beating the competition. If Apple launches an ad-suppor

When I'm working on Windows, SmartFTP is my favorite FTP client. Along with UltraEdit, it's one of the few commercial utilities that were worth paying for. You'd think that the free FTP utilities would be good enough, but SmartFTP has so m

No, don't cut your consumption, that's just burying your head in the sand and lowering prices for someone else. This isn't a situation like reducing the amount of trash you throw out, where every little bit makes a difference. (throwing ou

I've watched most of the show now, and I don't recommend it. Lots of feel-good fluff, basic regurgitation of Buffet's philosophy, and back story on their careers that you can find in the introduction to their wikipedia bio articles.

That sums up how I felt, too. I was excited at first, but then remembered that I stopped using UltraEdit when I switched to Linux on the desktop. Still one the best editors I've used, though, and was my favorite on Windows.

Let's give some more credit to Microsoft. More than anyone else, they worked with 3D chip makers to ensure that we all have hardware capable of running the eye-candy we see in Windows 7, OS X, and Linux. They were extremely late in releasi

It seems incredible that they can't sacrifice some speed to parse on every read, and yet are also unwilling to sacrifice some disk space to cache several fully parsed versions. Considering how quickly CPU and disk performance change, this t

I agree, this approach looks insane to me. I'm especially doubtful of it, because the article doesn't explain the problem with the obvious approach you suggested. I feel bad to be so negative toward an idea I haven't fully explored, but I g

I'd have to disagree with the title "Python meets C++". There's very few features that have been brought over from either of those languages. It looks like C with some very carefully chosen additions: memory safety, concurrency and maps.
