This is an incredibly useful tool! I was trying to decide how the huge amount of logging was handled in the display when he mentioned using WebGL - a cool idea to this WebGL newbie. Then there is the ability to jump up and down the stack, e

Your last tip is a gem! Combined with :10sp, it's the perfect recipe for a mini-TODO list.

Am I the only one that now wants to change careers and be an astronaut? This was wicked cool! I was definitely not expecting this result.

By asking all these questions, you're ensuring you provide a better service than a generic competitor. Don't sell a technology/service - sell a business solution! This idea is the core argument that patio11 is always driving home. By sellin

I'm also a member of the Church who went to BYU. I loved Utah the state (and wish I had had the time and money to explore it more), but the Utah Mormon culture there really rubbed me the wrong way. It ended up being a major factor in our he

I wondered the same thing. Perhaps the distance between toll booths is what they measured in the 2500 miles driven? It seems like you should be able to get the data from OSM as well, with a lot less time required!

Every time I think congressional officials can't get more arrogant, they surprise me again. The headline is a bit off though - according to the article only the disclosure portion of the law was repealed - though IMHO this is the most impor

I've been trying to do the same thing with my commit messages. It's just me for the moment, but knowing the why along with the what is a goldmine when you have to come back to some code 6 months later. Even better, vim has a git-commit mode

I couldn't agree with you more. It's my body! Why should some corporation get to say how I look at myself? Imagine if the current personal DNA sequencing companies, like 23AndMe, could add checks for some of these aberrant genes? Curious if

I've used WordPress in the past because it was easy to setup and use. However, given the consistently bad security record I'd love to try something different. Anyone have recommendations for other open source CMS's? Similar functionality to

I'll echo the sibling commenter. We're in the process of rolling out a new site layout at $work and I suspect there is a LOT of leftover CSS rules which I can get rid of. Thanks very much for the link!

Funny you should mention this. The primary reason I left the US was because I wanted to see the world, and secondarily because I wasn't happy with the things going on there. I have said those very same words: "It's not the country I grew up

Ahh, Bova's! I lived about 3 blocks from there. They had the most amazing pastries, plus these huge rectangular pizza(?) slices for cheap. If you walked by in the wee hours of the morning, the smell of the bread baking was intoxicating.

Huh, I had no idea! Everything I read about the Big Dig's use of it implied it was new. Or maybe the idea just got stuck in my head. You learn something new every day.

I would have killed for pictures like this for the Big Dig in Boston! I lived in the North End for a year while it was going on, though sadly I never got to see pictures like these - only enduring the daily changing traffic patterns.

The primary reason for the reduction was going from ~7k items in the ZSET to 100 for several thousand ZSETS. That's not to say the built-in compression didn't affect anything, but obviously less data == less memory.
