This write up, and the previous ones on the same site, are better than any TV drama. Mostly because a real-life troll is actually getting what's coming to them. Many thanks for the extensive coverage. I can't wait to see just how hard the j

I know very little about the law, but I think I too would need a change of pants if those orders had been directed at me. Remind me to never, ever piss off a federal judge! It makes me happy to see this sort of detailed inspection of the ac

Interesting timing: I was reading through Practical Vim last week and came across a sidebar describing the origins of grep. Why do programmers love their acronyms so much?

I can't find any documentation stating if it plays from network shares? Samba? NFS? Currently, I have an external USB drive connected to my PlayOn! media player, but I'd like to move that to a computer so I don't have to swap the drive back

As soon as you mentioned "Adobe Type Manager" I remembered reading about this case some time ago. But knowing it was you that discovered this makes it all the better. If only we could create perfect APIs the first time around...

I can't tell if I should be excited for the developers to have been so clever, or horrified with all the hacks they had to incorporate to make it work. Either way, the new FB app is definitely an improvement over the older version (lag cent

How has that not gone viral?! I had to stifle several laughs so my boss didn't look at me funny. Plus, how can you go wrong with a dollar a month? That won't even buy you a cup of coffee in Sydney.

For our internal use, we use HipChat. We still use Skype occasionally, but it's primarily for external contractors. HipChat ticks all the boxes for us, so give it a try.

Thanks for the link. My dad used to build packaging machines like the ones in the video. It always fascinated me as a young child to watch them at work.

That sounds super nifty! I'll have to give it a try next time I need to trace the history of a file.

I recently started using Tim Pope's git-vim plugin. The first time I used :Gstatus and added a file with one keystroke had me won over. Pure genius if you ask me!

At $work we use EWay and have been pretty happy with them as far as I know. Their API looks decent (it was integrated way before my time) and it just works. No idea about the costs though.

My wife and I also adopted through a state Family Services division. You probably don't want to hear how we got lucky and got a baby within a few months... But we did come pretty close to taking a sibling group of 5. The case worker basical

Fantastic post, and it's chock full of great tips! As someone who was just finished building v1 of a REST API for $work, I wish I had learned some of these lessons 6 months ago. I took a lot of inspiration from Stripe and Twilio but there a

I got the email earlier this morning. I'm not quite sure exactly how it works, but I have a shiny new REST API which could use some load testing before we unleash it on the public.

By coincidence, I got a random email from a Groupon recruiter 2 weeks ago to let me know they are having a recruiting event in Australia next month. I politely declined. :)

I've been using TuneIn internet radio stations for new music discovery. It's definitely more random, but I've found many new artists to listen to when just flipping through the stations.

The Spotify mobile version has many areas of improvement I'd like to see. Among other things I want: 1) the ability to see the track popularity and 2) a "see more" option when searching.

As an American living in Australia who likes country music, I'm very frustrated with the choice of artists available in the AU version. Out of the Billboard Top 50, maybe 2/3 of the tracks are available here. I assume this is due to licensi

I feel it's a little disingenuous to call it a "subsidy" since the taxpayers aren't actually writing the banks a check for $83 billion. But the key point is still spot on: without the implied backstop of a government bailout the banks would

I haven't driven a Jetta, though I did have a mid 2000's Passat petrol for a while. See my comment below, but I think the Golf TDi is the _perfect_ combination of power, fuel economy and driving fun. Try one for a few days and you'll never
