The most interesting part was at the end when they talked about a proposal & vote to upgrade the payment network (and not even real-time like England's) which failed to pass. A later survey found that the prime reason was cannibali

While I would agree that smartphone cameras are "good enough" in most cases, they still pale in comparison to a DSLR. But then you can't put a DSLR in your pants pocket either... I think his closing argument that laptops are

It often is, but I'm in pretty decent shape. I cycle regularly (my commute is 34 km one way), am not overweight and eat decently. For as long as I can remember, I've always started sweating very easily.

My body naturally gets very warm, very quickly, with very little exercise. If they can make this work, I might actually be able to wear a suit all day! Luckily I don't need to but that's beside the point. Assuming they can get the

Great ideas and tips. As I read through it, I found myself mentally saying "yep, did that" for most of the sections. One thing I disagree with was what to do when a new resource is created. I think the Location header is a great i

This is particularly true for electronics. However, I've noticed that if the fulfiller is Amazon then there's a better chance of shipping an item to Australia. I can't remember what it was now, but I remember one item where s

Only 17.5k/yr? You got off easy! Our first quote at $work was 6 figures, though we ended up settling on a figure more than yours and less than $100k/yr. We've now switched to OSM + MapQuest open tiles + leaflet and couldn

"If your goal is freedom, you need to buy that freedom." nailed it! I couldn't agree more with you. The timing couldn't be better because I just finished a spreadsheet for a new family budget. Once I got past the scary b

At $work (in Australia) we use EWay as our payment provider so the Stripe integration obviously won't help me. However, dunning emails would be very helpful to our head of sales in her qoal of meeting monthly sales targets. Is there

As a non-Twitter user, I had always wondered how they were going to be generating long-term revenue. The possibilities for real-time interaction with TV audiences via a hashtag/tweet on a TV program sounds pretty enticing to me. It wil

I was working in Ireland until 2011, under the older work permit scheme. The major downside to this scheme was that the permit was tied to the employer - lose your job and you have to start all over. This is what happened to me right as the

If there were a correspondence between the two, it wouldn't surprise me. But you'd think that even if the selection process was political you'd dole out some juicy areas too. Maybe I'm asking too much of a politician...

One of the most interesting reads was Internode's submission [1] under the "Take 2" heading. Even a layman like myself can see that Telstra's behaviour was anti-competitive and bullying. I can't imagine the headache

One thing that always puzzled me about the NBN rollout was why they chose to do the least populated areas first? It seems that it would have helped to allay the cost concerns if they had brought it to more populated areas where the customer

Don't forget that this is in the UK, so in addition to the things mentioned above there are quite likely a ton of CCTV cameras that could be utilised better. Or based on the hospital data new ones could be installed as deterrents.

MapQuest Open is very hit or miss. In Australia, the directions & geocoding are pretty good. However, in India it's atrocious - but still good enough for what we need.
