I'm probably not the only one who noticed, but the second screenshot (for the Graphite stats) is almost certainly from an ExtJS app. Is there an open source equivalent of ExtJS? The pricing seems to have gone up quite a bit from the last ti

Our linode is currently in London (I didn't set it up...), but I'm probably going to request a move to the Tokyo datacenter in the next week. Ping times to Tokyo (136 ms) are literally half what they are to London (297 ms) and still better

I was looking over the pastie code (reading is learning :) and noticed they are using Raphael.js for drawing a tooltip polygon. Perhaps I'll add "play with Raphael" to my TODO list. Anyone else using this toolkit for production drawing?

Been there, done that! I do it less often these days, but I can't count the number of times I went to bed in the wee hours of them morning because I was trying to finish that last chapter, and then another, and then another...

I had a Galaxy S 1 and the lag was horrible. HORRIBLE! I resorted to rooting and using a custom firmware (Darky's ROM, which was like getting a new phone). With my S2, the lag is no where to be seen. I've had it for almost 2 months now, and

At my last job, I was successfully using NFS to share a directory from OS X to a FreeBSD VM running under Parallels. I went that way so that TimeMachine could backup the shared directory (which contained source code). It seems like it would

Only last week I downloaded the IE9 VM's mentioned here, but got the never ending BSOD-reboot loop when trying to use them in VirtualBox. This is going to make my day when I get back in the office next week!

That is a great control. Which reminds me that I should go back and re-examine extjs for an internal app I'm building at work. Thanks!

That does it! I've read about both these extensions before, but tomorrow morning I'm taking the time to set them up on my machines. The setup looks like exactly what I've been wanting. Split windows only go so far, and still doesn't let me

They may be right about keeping the corporate tax rate steady, as partly evidenced by the fact that nearly every other large EU country wants Ireland to raise the corporate tax rate. But the reason the country is in its current state is pre

Thanks for the link. I'm working on some new internal functionality at work, and I too suck at design. The admin templates look fabulous, and $20 is WAY than an hour of my time! I thought Themeforest was only for Wordpress...

What a fabulous story! As the father of an 8 year old daughter, I only hope to be able to provide experiences like this to her. It is absolutely the small things in life that make all the difference. Kudos to you Katie for keeping the magic

I've only recently (last week!) started using split buffers with vi, and it is a major game changer for me! I've read about NERDTree before, so I'm moving it up on my TODO list. If I may ask a newbie question, why do you use both tabs and s

I've been unsuccessfully trying to educate my wife about this behavior for years! The windows model of "app closes with last window" seems to be too far ingrained in her to change.

Wow, I just bought a late model VW Golf and didn't want to spring for the factory bluetooth upgrade (500+ AUD). I'm definitely going to look at this more later tonight! Thanks for the tip.

As a data warehouse newbie, this was an excellent introduction. I've heard a few of the names mentioned, but there are lots of new faces to explore.

How did I not know about the command-shift-g shortcut? That is a awesome tip! New iTerm user here as well, and I'm really liking it so far. Don't forget VLC to play pretty much any video file you may get.

Don't forget the flat $100/mo account fee for any month you have servers active too. Based on my reading of this fee, having a single server means you're paying several multiples of what an equivalent account with Linode would be. http://w

This is one more example proving "No guts, no glory". IMHO it takes real courage and conviction to go to a C-level executive and state the obvious. Which is why it doesn't happen more.
