From what I understand this is a REST client library for making HTTP requests and dealing with JSON. Can anyone recommend a good C++ framework for writing REST services and simple HTTP servers.

From the FAQ: Can I use Casablanca on iOS, Linux, Android, or other platforms? The API surface of Casablanca is platform-agnostic, however in this release we are only supporting Windows and Linux. Our goal for future versions is to enable t

Microsoft has been supporting git on Codeplex (their Open Source hosting site) for a while and they announced git integration in Visual Studio last month. I don't know what license they tend to use for Open Source stuff but Apache is a good

Domain specific languages have a role to play there. You already mentioned Regex and SQL but things like R, MathLab or even Excel can be invaluable tools in some professions.

> assuming you didn't buy one in the cloud Buying a mail server in the cloud is the most practical option. I doubt EC2 would peek inside your VM to censor mail as Apple is doing here. Running a mail server at home can get complicated. O

32bit code can sometimes be faster than 64bit code because 32bit pointers are smaller, use less RAM and put less pressure on the cache. It'd be interesting if Sony choose to run the processor in 32bit mode for that reason, they could also u

Nintendo still try to be creative when it comes to hardware. The Wii was innovative and the Wii U is... unique.

This thing would make a great server. Though, I don't think Sony will ever change their stance on Linux support.

I'd like to see more mid-air drawing in action. The video only shows how to make a spiral, a cube and some finishing touch on the dinosaur. Though they are showing photos of objects that must have been created this way, it's not clear how w

I really hope they get the tablet interface right. Unity on the desktop has been a bumpy road. Although it's getting better, each release has its quirks. I'm having a lot of issues with their new web app integration for instance. Since Ubun

A common argument is that it's easier to manufacture High-DPI displays for tablets and smart phones because you get fewer defects over a small surface. But we're talking about a 13″ 1920×1080 laptop display here. The screen is not that big

1080p still isn't all that impressive though. It's a decent density for a display of that size but right now it seems only Apple is pushing laptops beyond the HDTV standard. Desktop monitors over 1080p are really overpriced as well. I don't

Are sysadmins really the target audience? At first glance it seems the intent of Boxen is to get your developer tools installed and configured. I guess how useful it is for a sysadmin would depend on whether changes are pushed automatically
