You pay them a lot of money, obviously. Or do something else that makes up for the fact that you're not using technologies that developers are drawn to. It's pretty simple economics. If you are using "cool" technologies, you basically get a

Have you tried out mine? It's open source, and if you find something lacking I'd love your feedback. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airlocksof...

gigasquid, do you happen to know if this is compatible with ClojureScript, or does it have some Java dependencies? I ask because I started writing a Markdown processor in ClojureScript, but I eventually realized the find-and-replace-based a

Thanks for making these, Ken. I just did the first one yesterday, and it's been great so far. I especially appreciate the full transcript / notes for the videos.

Thanks Ryan. I've read through more of the documentation, and I like what I am seeing. The client-side state management and push rendering looks especially cool. My play Clojure / Clojurescript stack is a weird combination of libraries like

This looks very interesting -- I don't love the web development story in Clojure/ClojureScript right now, so I'm excited for anything that makes it easier. And I get that this is an alpha. That said, one of my biggest pain points with Cloj

I know this article is speculative, but if it's true, this is why Google built Android. I know that tech pundits like to talk about how Apple is making the lion's share of the profits in the smartphone industry (which they are). But despite

To be honest, I think you're completely missing the point. The game, Chromashift, is not a serious attempt to make a quality game. It was an opportunity to try building a (somewhat) complex system with the IDE they've been working on. Along

Scala was originally released in 2003, and Clojure wasn't released until 2007. There's your difference, I think. I still see Clojure as having a strong chance of becoming a major language. The language itself is relatively stable now, and t

I thought this was an interesting article, if a little light on any hard numbers outside of one example (G.E.). Another anecdote that supports this is Apple manufacturing a limited number of their new iMacs in the U.S. http://9to5mac.com/2

Discussions tend to grow unwieldy as the number of exchanges grow. So I'm going to be a bit brief on some things, and if you feel that I didn't address an important point let me know and I'll circle back to it. Feel free to do the same. Plu

I understand what you're saying, which is that nothing bad has happened yet. But the laws you're talking about are relatively new (circa 1985?) and during a period of relative peace, prosperity, and lack of political turmoil. So right now,

If I'm taking any side in this debate, it's that the conference organizers should have put more effort into finding speakers from different backgrounds. That said, I feel obligated to step in and defend free speech. If we didn't have strong

What does this do exactly? Will it permanently change lein to use drip? Or only temporarily for whichever command replaced the "...". Also, do you know if the advice here: https://github.com/flatland/drip/wiki/Clojure works with lein2?

As Uber said in one of the tweets quoted in the linked article, by increasing the fare they increased their supply of drivers by 50%. I.e. since they were being paid more, more drivers decided to work more hours. This is the expected result

I was wondering, if you happen to know, why there are so many colos in NYC / Manhattan? In general wouldn't you locate a server farm somewhere with cheap land / electricity / cooling? What advantage do they get from being there?

It's using webkit as a rendering engine - while it's in beta, that means a browser (although on mac it runs standalone). I'm pretty sure they've mentioned that Windows & Linux will be a standalone app before the final release.

Yep, that should all be happening. Scroll to the FAQ section of the kickstarter - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ibdknox/light-table - it will be OSS and will also have an API for developing plugins with Javascript. He's already show

Very cool. I look forward to it. I'm just poking around this release now, and it's great to see the vision you had in the original video coming together. Not to rush you or anything, but I was wondering how the plugin API was coming along.

Chris, if you're around, you mentioned that you're now building Light Table in Light Table. Does this include the front end Clojurescript? Because I would love to move my Clojure / Clojurescript project over to LT if that's possible.
