None of the facts you listed are untrue, but did you notice how skewed your post is towards western-style living? None of the food you mentioned are everyday items for Japan (except beer, which is still cheap in Tokyo compared to western ci

As posters above have mentioned, all "sequels" in a Nintendo franchise tend to be completely independent with basically the character models swapped in later in development to make it part of a series. There's no shortage of

This isn't pedantic; it's of the level that it "sounds wrong" and will be immediately noticed and distracting (for a brief moment) to any native speaker, not just pedants.

Neither Arial nor Times New Roman have any of those non-latin languages included either; you're just seeing fallbacks when they work.

Nintendo's never been on the verge of bankruptcy. That's a ridiculous myth that's always tossed around by news sites to get more clicks. Nintendo is a surprisingly tiny company with billions in cash in the bank. As others hav

Japanese isn't technically "tonal" but does have "prescribed pitches" which certainly affects the ease of text-to-speech.

I'm not sure about Mandarin, but this is definitely true for Japanese. Near-human Japanese text-to-speech has been around a very long time.

That's cool to hear from the other side; I was at Nintendo for many years and worked closely with the team that directed the browser, so I know exactly who you're talking about (though I wasn't with them for the Wii browser).

There aren't any programs that do the same thing without rooting. Android doesn't have any APIs that allow you to change the color temperature, so all of the non-root apps just add a transparent red overlay on top of the screen. I

How did Android help you with f.lux? Apple just came out with a f.lux copy built into iOS, while none of the alternatives on Android work without rooting.

Japanese do have other "alphabets" they use along with Chinese characters, but overall the writing works basically the same way (no spaces, no capitals, etc.). Whether it's cultural or linguistic I don't know, but Japane

It's not just hypothetical. You should check out the Xperia Z5 Compact. It's very small but surprisingly thick which gives it a good feel and amazing battery life.

I thought the exact opposite. This is insanely clean and organized for a physical lab. Though I assume that's because they cleaned up in preparation for the press visit.

Safari did run on Windows for years. But it did seem like they ported a lot of OS X libraries to Windows just to get it working. If I remember correctly, it had OS X font rendering for example.

I've lived in downtown Seattle for the past six years and I agree with everything you've said, but it's also slowly changing. There are tons of apartments and condos going up right now in downtown, not the neighborhoods. But

I thought this was going to be about a much riskier issue that I've heard surprisingly few complaints about. iOS apps take a screenshot when you close them so they can show that right away when reopened to cover the load time. This mak

I (and my friends) still consider it the best multiplayer game ever. I really wish someone could make another game like that, but the depth and learning curve limit the market so much that it might never happen again.

Does anyone know if mainline git has any plans to eventually add better support for binary files? There are a number of hacks and bolt-on solutions, but it would be a lot easier to propose git for projects if it would just work as-is.
