At my last startup we tested a number of options and decided to go with ClickUp. I personally preferred the philosophy of Linear, but ClickUp can do way more and it’s quite good. Their feature velocity is really impressive too. And we did r

There’s a joke in the first episode of Silicon Valley where some mundane startup oversells their mission as something about enabling humanity to thrive. I saw an interview with Mike Judge where he said it was just a copy of an actual experi

Maybe “nice” is what triggered you? I’m not talking about fancy meals here, just soba, basic fish set, rice bowl, etc. There were like four options within one block of my last office. And here’s a random list that comes up first on Google;

I’ve lived here for years, not just visited. There are countless restaurants where you get a basic lunch set for ¥500. You’re either going to the wrong places or talking about dinner. The same places with the ¥500 lunch sets will cost far m

Even inside Tokyo, that’s very typical for a nice lunch set in an average restaurant.

The problem with languages that use 10,000 is they still use commas at 1,000, so you get a very awkward offset that then requires a mental translation between numeric and verbal representations. Sure if you grow up with it, you have that tr

Amen. I'm 100% in the old-school, self-managed local media camp, but I'm well aware that I'm an extreme minority and can't expect mass-market companies to cater to my use case. I'm probably one of the last 1,000 peo

My understanding is that when things progress naturally, the mother’s body and mind should be in a state that helps them cope with the pain, but it doesn’t reduce it or help you forget anything. My wife remembers every instant of all of her

I live in and love Japan, and after many years have also gotten used to the general ugliness and just enjoy the beautiful parts when I can, but turning off the Japanese filter I’ve developed, good god this is so true.

Vanmoofs have a built in alarm, are trackable, and the company sells theft insurance. Japan has very little theft, but it’s cultural and not something you can implement with policy. Maybe widespread bike registration helps?
