Of course $20 doesn't get you a bug fix, it costs a few orders of magnitude more to actually implement it. For an open source project, consider what it would cost to hire a contractor to implement the fix and get it to a state where th

Defaulting has a cost though. If you default on your car loan, how likely is it that you're getting a loan for the next car? What kind of interest rate are you going to get?

So if the only reason people use Chrome is that it comes pre-installed on Android, it shouldn't matter if it's allowed on iOS right? Most people would keep using the pre-installed Safari right?

Meh decriminalize possession and consumption, sure. I don't think something like heroin should be easily available though.

Closed source products are really well known for investing in security and keeping tech debt to a minimum. This is why no commercial closed source product depended on something like log4j without thouroughly auditing it first. Oh wait...

Try looking into why these investments have higher returns than a bank account. The risk profile isn't the same at all. If you want returns in traditional finance, you don't stick money in a bank account. You buy bonds and/or

Is that work somehow less scalable when done in Germany?

Most of the people who can go to Germany can easily go to Switzerland as well where salaries are much, much higher.

Nah, open source software is "use at your own risk" and there's 0 guarantee for anything. All responsibility lies with the user. If you don't like that responsibility, don't use open source software without reviewin

I don't know, "act like I'm "working" for the rest of that time" sure sounds like there's intentional deception for financial gain.

The problem is that small changes are barely worth reviewing. Also a series of small changes can obfuscate the larger context of all those changes. Each small change on its own might make sense and be ok to a reviewer, but if you step back

So you're saying the only reason that Chrome isn't more dominant is that some consumers cannot use it because of Apple and somehow that's a good thing? If iOS users would switch to Chrome if given the chance, isn't that

Why so personal and agressive? In my opinion it would be better to have normal energy prices and simply redistribute the money. At least it would give an incentive to use energy more efficiently

How come the government can afford to subsidize energy if the economy can't sustain paying the "true" price for it? Where is the money coming from?

Compiling and running the code is handled by a build server and automated tests. That's not the point of code reviews. The main purpose of code reviews is checking the general structure of the code and tests. Is the code well designed?
