Sure. Do you believe we will be able to develop this new tech AND deploy it on a global scale within the next 10-15 years? Because that's how long we've got to turn this around before it turns really ugly. I don't think we ca

Chickens and rabbits are excellent sources of meat and if you have room for it then you can easily produce meat with a very low carbon foot print. If you have children, it is also an excellent opportunity to teach them that meat doesn'

Once that technological progress has been made, and we have implemented those new technologies on a global scale, then sure. Right here and right now, we're still largely relying on fossil fuels and machinery up to several decades old

Butterflies in my case. There used to be lots of them around here when I was a child. Luckily, there still seems to be enough bumblebees around to keep plants pollinated. I hope it lasts.

Frankly, I don't know why most people have chosen to use POST requests instead of PUT. Browsers and servers usually support both PUT and HTTP authentication, and when used over HTTPS it should be quite safe.

That's a valid point, but it doesn't mean the absence of a fair trial is something that should be ignored, and it's quite reasonable to demand a fair trial in a situation where one has been denied to you.

Starting out with preparing for the the more likely scenarios is definitely easier (and most likely more effective) than preparing for Illumunati death squads chasing survivors amongst the zombie hordes in a nuclear wasteland. Personally, I

Having access to a ranged weapon is defenitely a plus. Even if complete absence of law and order is a somewhat unlikely scenario, a ranged weapon will also make things like hunting for food easier. In many places, there are quite heavy rest

PUT request with HTTP authentication is quite standardized, isn't it? The problem isn't that there are no standardized way of doing it. The problem is that the existing standardized way of doing it has no adoption, because it'

This. Having old hardware running various services in the basement is handy, saves money (unless they use a ton of electricity), but the second stuff breaks down you will be screwed unless you have a backup somewhere.

Ah, that's it -- I remember now. Basically you're free to go on strike unless you have agreed not to. If you do, it will simply be treated as a breach of the agreement and the other party will be able to sue for damages. So yeah,

Please don't look at Sweden as an example for how it should work. Personally, I'd prefer a system more like the Danish one, with unions that are less politicized but with a social welfare net that will catch you fairly quick if yo

This. So much this. From my point of view, the Sipilä government is working with own best interest in mind, even though I actually do believe they also think that's what's best for the country. Being selfish now won't help me

The fact that people are abusing tools for ad-blocking to achieve political goals is a major breach of trust. This is the main issue. For the record, political strikes happen in the other Nordic countries as well. According to a quick searc

Moving everyone off-planet, no. Getting a presence up there, and creating off-planet production sites on the other hand, would be quite handy on the other hand. That way we could reduce the impact industrial production has on the planet.

I spent some years at Convergys. And definitely recognize many of the procedures and idiocies described in that article, even though it was in a different country. It's easy to forget how large the call centre business really is.

I'm quite sure the availability of cheap energy would result in quite a boost for most countries around this complex. As a result their energy consumption would most likely increase a lot.
