A new A380 is more expensive (rule of thumb half of official list price, so about $220 million), and airlines were not talking about retiring A380s yet at the time. So it even made economic sense.

Seems close to impossible for existing designs. The wings are commonly almost entirely full of fuel at max fuel, and I doubt that taking the capacity hit is an option even in newly designed planes.

Nefarious and default aren't incompatible properties. If companies (especially large, public ones) were benevolent by default, a lot of laws and institutions would not be needed anymore.

It might come down to that they don't care (enough). They could probably do it if they had to (hire a lot of professional editors and authors to train models), but AGI seems more profitable and also a better "story" for inves

/// Rule: every block leaves exactly as long as it arrived, whatever /// is being held back, or the output would run short. Uhm yeah, that is "literally what" territory.

In addition to all that, I find the quality of writing in average current scientific papers atrocious, too. Look at some from earlier than mid 80s or so, they are so much better.

If I read something like that, I always recommend getting psychiatric help. FWIW, I don't think that spiritualist communities need to be driven insane in the same way that hooligan communities don't need to be driven to violence.

I think Hoyerswerda is to this day best known for something that happened in the early 90s: Local neo-nazis rioted against and physically attacked some foreign contract workers and asylum seekers while the local police watched and did nothi

Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and Obama were OK, too. Clinton probably overrated, but not bad.

That is a weak variant of the "Trump is playing 4D chess" argument. No, he isn't - he is an idiot, he's playing tic-tac-toe, and he's losing.

We're already doing it and making progress. It's not instant and we still have delayed consequences to deal with, so short-term fixes also make sense.

With a few caveats, though they do tend to get fixed over time. For example, frame rate. Higher frame rate is better, the end, right? Wellll... Latency and hitching are annoying to measure, so for a long time, they were pretty much ignored.

I've seen it. Walls of text with stereotypically worded non-summaries that just repeat all of the code in words, mutating values all over the place instead of the obvious canonical one place that touches related values... Yeah you can
