I mostly play games that have good gameplay mechanics, be it fast action games, strategy or racing sims. There are very few games that can even get close to movies regarding characters and story, so I don't bother. That includes GTA wi

I also see this as an antitrust case, but to see that, you need to be much more up to date on technology than anyone who decides such things. It's comparable to the biggest bank buying the biggest ratings agency.

That sounds like you should get in contact with Rui Ueyama. If anybody asks, someone on HN said it seemed like a no-brainer.

I think FTTC is just called (V)DSL in most places. IME it's uncommon to call anything less than FTTB (basement / building) fiber.

I think "bloat" was mostly about RAM at the time. MS went as far as writing new 16 bit code for Windows 95 to save memory.

Well, there are plenty of safety mechanisms that Python doesn't have and dangerous (usually powerful, occasionally badly designed) mechanisms that it does have.

I generally just "apt install" them. pyenv and pip (just pyenv really) are a little clunky, but work too.

Python is a language for "consenting adults". It doesn't try to prevent you from doing awful things so you can do great things. People who can't program well are given plenty of rope to hang themselves. It shares that wi

Feynman was apparently a fan, too. His name for quarks was "partons". She just played the dumb showbiz blonde, or as she said "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap". Others in this discussion have more to say about

They aren't in the same category of supermarket though. Anyway, your name sounds Dutch. Please bring Albert Heijn to Germany. I'm not even sure why, but it's my favorite supermarket I've been to so far.

Btw, I just realized that "cannot use all cores" has become a similar performance handicap to "is interpreted". So many cores now!

FWIW, this is most likely not even fast enough to laugh at how slow it is - for that, you need to see something happening in less than an hour or so. It can only use one core at a time, but that is not the worst thing: CMake is interprete

Interesting, the internet confirms that. I recall reading in a PC magazine that something was inofficial about it - maybe it was wrong, or I misunderstood or misremembered something.

Oh for sure, the success if you want to call it that was to successfully implement the least bad option. Though it does seem that the king saw some good in Western culture, so at least from his POV it was presumably not all about losing the

It's not a weird angle but a "haven't caught on yet to what's happening" angle. I understand the article as trying to make the readers catch on to what's happening.
