I'm as much a META hater as anyone - their policies have consistently disappointed me in almost every aspect of their business - but their stance on this LLaMA project I must say I am happy with and seems to mark a turn for the better.

Probably a good place to ask: I want to add an arabic translation to a webpage I operate. My text editor is a bit confused by the unicode symbols. Obviously the text editor displays left-to-right no matter what as it's made for program

Sure but regular kaggle competitions have all those qualities, usually with a $50K+ prize to boot. Google seems to have skipped out on the prize and substituted branding

Soon we will see language style transfer vectors, akin to the image style transfer at the peak of the ML craze 5-10 years ago -- so you will be able to take a HN snark vector and apply it to regular text, you heard it here first ;)

Am I missing something or are these just regular Kaggle competitions, but with no prizes? What is google offering, other than the branding? Why are competitors motivated to take part?

This is absolutely true. A very dangerous use-case of DL upscaling. Even without claiming it could "recover" imagery it is a dangerous feature as users could be misconceived, but ArcGIS explicitly claiming that? Outrageous. To mak

I would actually agree with that, when a startup radically changes it's direction I generally see it as a sign of weakness. Of course, not always the case.

I can't help but wonder — if the author has changed their mind so radically about so many fundamental concepts — why should the new opinions be trusted?

To clarify the appropriateness of this analogy: This is unexpected behaviour from Github here which may (and has, by the anecdote of OP) cause permanent data loss. Documentation is not good enough, as users should not have been expected to

I like it FWIW :) maybe removing it on information pages like for pricing and keeping it on the landing page with the interactive glove is a good compromise

I am guessing they are not other players live but probably recordings of older sessions, I did try to follow a few people and jump around to communicate but couldn't verify any response... quite a beautiful project in any case

1. diverse - This is likely German and standard on German gender selectors, it refers to anybody who identifies as neither male nor female. 2. Mrs Prof Dr. - Again this is likely German, and is not a gender selector, rather a title selector

This is a misunderstanding of the research. Firstly it is making the fallacious assumption that the shift applies via a large improvement in extreme cases rather than a small improvement to each case. Secondly, there are flaws in the study

If anyone deserve to get rich it's the people that gave away their project for free for 15 years turning down multiple monetisation opportunities on the way. Very happy for them. Next up VLC!

Just to clarify, the refusals-to-answer are not rule based, but rather trained by reinforcement learning. A slight distinction but an important one. That is why you can have examples like one I had a while ago while messing around, somethin

Thanks for this, I am wondering whether to study a MSc in the field or whether just self-led work will suffice for progress, I guess I will play with some of these datasets and see what I learn on the way.

Seems there is lots of discussion already about "Don't interrupt" I will add another POV: You kind of have to interrupt in group conversations or you will never talk at all. That's what regularly happens to me at least,

Cool - but there is no proof that these demo songs are out-of-sample, and the trained model does not seem to be available in the github. If I am understanding correctly, the github code doesn't contain the code to train the model? [1]
