No, you don't. If you want to stick with the $75k number, then you say "I make just under $75k". If you want to round, you say "I make $73k".

I don't think this is controversial at all. I wouldn't even give a second thought to a FB deal (unless it was for my own mother, I suppose) - the incentives are all completely misaligned. It starts off adversarial and is extreme

Totally agree here. LinkedIn is both annoying and singular - there isn't another universally-used online professional profile out there that can fully replace LinkedIn. Even if you only use it for an online profile and PDF resume-gen

For people who have problems with innumeracy (and lacking a tax advisor's phone number, I guess) this can be a real problem. For the rest of us, it's not that hard to figure out what those things cost, add it to how much you want

The OP has essentially used circular logic: RPC is as good as REST because I know how to use it to address the issues that REST addresses (which I doubt, incidentally). This to me is like arguing that object-oriented programming isn't

I've taught a graduate-level class in which I caught every single student cheating at least once (18 students), including 6 of them on the final paper (for which I set an absurdly low bar). I failed those 6, and I gave zeros for all t

Agreed. And really it's pretty simple to get it working and start using it even for straight crud - much easier than EF or other heavy ORMs, I think.

It's worth adding, too: aside from the legal liability angle, what about what the invitation to a romantic encounter does to that applicant for the rest of the interview? Now the rest of the interview, from her perspective, is all abo

Having once been a close follower of OpenBSD, I eventually just kind of lost interest because Linux (and other BSDs) were just moving so much faster on features that mattered more to me. Multiprocessor support was the big one for me at the

I take some of his points, but this seems kinda...a couple years late here. It seems to me that Git/Mercurial just became the best centralized systems; being distributed fixed some critical faults with being centralized, and didn'

My friend, $5000 is cheap for a good developer. It's practically bottom of the barrel if you're talking about an app that has very much customization in it at all. Pretty much the same goes for a good designer. A highly custo

Sounds neat, and the device itself is reasonably priced ($99 for the next 30 days). $14/GiB isn't a steal, though. There are better-priced data plans out there (T-Mobile has a 11GiB plan for $70, for instance).
