I _technically_ had prior knowledge as a computer architecture class had us stick some premade pieces together to create a CPU we designed, but I personally wrote no Verilog, and it was a small subset of the class. I don't have much do

Retrocomputing FPGA work is a fun diversion from normal software, enough that my brain was convinced they weren't related (had a bit of a mental block for software). Over the course of a year, I went from knowing basically nothing to r

My limiting factor is _command_ throughput in my brain; coming up with the words I want and how to spell them massively slows me down. I really wish I could figure out how to go faster (~80 WPM) because I'm essentially limited by the s

If you're a Mac user, Arc Browser does exactly that, at a configurable time interval. I have too many long running projects, so I don't like Arc for precisely that reason (and the vertical tab display doesn't scale well when

80,000 Hours has led me to think a lot about how I'm applying myself in a job. I've had some more extreme circumstances that have led me to take a job that's not particularly concerned with saving the world, but it does give

I'm obviously super biased, but I think the core installation process is nearly as straightforward as it could possibly be without official support. All of the cores are distributed in a way that you can simply unzip the asset to the r

Latency is what it's all about, but there's some "accuracy" that can be had there by having cycle accurate latency.

I want to make it very clear that I do agree with you. However, by the exact reasoning that allows companies to replicate, Cypress can try to block, however stupid that may be. It's no more wrong, because both things are allowable unde

Yes, I 100% agree. They should have always supported a self-hosted install, even if it was via sorry-cypress. In my mind it's completely antithetical to being an "open source company" and not also providing some sort of (mayb

I agree, but that doesn't make it not bad taste, and by the same token, it's not against the MIT license to attempt to block (albeit trivially) companies from trying to do that.

Disclaimer: I previously worked at Cypress for a relatively short period, though I don't really think that affects my thinking on this matter. Optically this looks very bad, and I don't think there's any way around that. I wo

Are there plans for a true native driver (not JS)? That's kind of a dealbreaker in the same groups that are looking for offline first.

If you're not interested in a GUI, but just want to run background services, is this framework still applicable?

They will both likely come in the coming weeks, based on what the creator wants and general enthusiasm. Since it hasn't been wired up to a top, the ports would likely be fairly simple.

Oh interesting, so you're not using Llama 2, you're using the original. Have you begun to evaluate Llama 2 to determine the differences in performance? How are you determining what notes (or snippets of notes?) to be injected as c

I never got to do Parli unfortunately, so I can't speak to that. I have only the stories of my coaching team, which was the original coach followed by their star student of a college Parli team that performed very well on the national

This is one of my favorite OSS gaming projects going on right now. Three quite good games that used a custom language being taken apart to reverse engineer the language and thus how the game ran.

For easier access, you can run the Plus Too core on the MiSTer FPGA project, which is a bit more prevalent and user friendly (plus supports many, many more systems) ( https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/MacPlus_MiSTer ).

I hadn't heard of Electric-SQL before. Was potentially interested, but the lack of native language bindings is a dealbreaker. I don't particularly like a centralized server being required for the sync either, but it's ok. VLC

Sure, there's plenty of complexity there too. For simplicity, I was just assuming timestamps are fine, and we're not concerned about apparent concurrent events or incorrect timestamps from a host.
