My parents are in just now in the process of retiring. They have an apartment in NYC and a house in an expensive suburb in Boston. One of the reasons why they are going to have to stay in NYC before moving for some time is to continue to ma

Slightly off topic but I'm just going to throw it out there. If you are cooking with charcoal I highly recommend a Kamado style grill aka big green egg (BGE). Once you get one of those you will never go back. It is extremely efficient

It depends on how you partition. If you partition with no extra columns which is the typical case for partitioning by time you can use triggers and insert on the base table. The postgresql doc covers this. However if you add columns to your

One of the tricks I have found for Postgres to manage analytics and unstructured data is using its inheritance with check constraints aka partitioning features. I mention it because not many people seem to know about this bad ass feature of

I was going to say impossible as the teacher even said that but I think for small numbers it is possible IIRC. There was some joke I think by Kenneth that the only fair voted government is a dictatorship.

Fair voting is almost exactly analogous (I think it is even the same math). I had a fantastic math teacher in high school who showed how it is fairly difficult to make any voting scheme fair.

I very rarely see technology choice decisions based on performance. It probably should happen more often then it does. If anything most choices are based on popularity. Benchmarks are not the best way to advertise languages but regardless E

I think one of the obvious reasons to buy an existing pop song today instead of using a jingle is that is contextual proven. Updating a jingle is probably a far greater risk. I think some recent artist have been accused of purposely writing

Well one of the confusions I think early on (or at least professed confusion on Lambda the Ultimate IIRC) is that Scala is mixed paradigm and that adds additional load for learning. Some feel it should go full FP (what I mean by that is rea

I have wondered if there could be a CoffeeScript or TypeScript of Bash. Basically a transpiler to Bash that is safer and more convenient to write in. Then you just ship the bash script with no dependencies. The transpiler might even be smar
